Hi all, my name is Leif and I just bought the mother of all projects, it's a 98 gsx with most of the drive train in plastic totes. First off this is my "wheelhouse " even as a kid I would go for broken "fixer upper stuff " before saving for newer running stuff and was poor so never had any money anyway. I've been a mechanic for 30 of my 51 years and like to think I know my way around a motor. This very well may be my last project of this sort due to health issues and it is fitting that it is a 2g eclipse. Back in 94 I had bought a similar condition 85 omni GLH and built it up into the, fastest best handing, most fun car I had ever had and had it into the mid 12s when marriage, kids and a house came into the picture.
Also I was Pre delivery inspecting new talons at the Dodge dealer I was working for and fell in love with the 2g body and interior. Not a quick as my omni but so sexy!...long story short sold the omni to pay for life, worked my ass off to pay for kids and now that there almost outta college I got my 2g awd turbo eclipse in white! My favorite color! ...oh ya!

Well you came to the right place to learn about DSM's. Interesting - I have a 99 GST and 15 years ago had a 85 Omni GLH that I performance rallied. And I also do all my own work on my cars (and have never had any money either, tee, hee).

Thanks for the reply and info!...I never knew there was such detailed information on new to market cars. Must be a sales thing, we techs never saw this stuff as far as I can remember.
