:edit: rewriting my post to fill in more info.

ok so I'm attempting to run ecuflash version 1.42 with a 98 ecu I just purchased. I have tried using the software on my laptop running vista as well as my older laptop running XP. I have my openport 2.0 and the reflash wire connected.

When I try to read the ecu, i get an error code (see Log in post below).
Now when I'm trying this, I click read ecu, then select the 2g evo 5/6 bar and click read. Then the log says sending init 2, then simply interface closed.

The Log says the same when I try to write the ceddy mods rom to the ecu. Just wondering what I'm doing wrong. I did post the ceddy mod xml file in the rommdata/mitsu/eclipse folder, but it doesn't change the results.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Shawn

Solution
Swapped plug wires and the car starts and runs fine. Still no luck with ecuflash.

Well, i decided to check for continuity between the reflash port and pin 79. Come to find that the red wire dead ends in the harness and there is no wire connector in pin 79.

Now to find a connector for said pin. Hopefully this will resolve me issue or at least get me one step closer.
first off do us a small favor and fill in some blanks. what version of windows are you running? when you hook up your OP2.0 to the USB is ECU flash showing that an interface is present (bottom right corner of ECU flash)? what version of ECU flash are you using? some people are having issues with vista/7 and the most current version of ECU flash and are having to go back to a previous version (1.41 i think). also have you tries connecting to the ecu with EVOscan or mutt monitor.

post a screen shot of ECU flash when it isn't connecting that might help up out. kind of sounds like the drivers for the OP2.0 didn't install correctly.

as for your other problem... yes swap the plug wires.

Mike96 just about summed up everything I was going to say.

I'd try installing Evoscan as well and see if that connects. You should be able to log things such as throttle position and battery voltage, with the ignition just turned to on.

Got the wiring sorted out and what do ya know, ecuflash finally works.

Idk why the guy before me removed the flash wire.
Joys of a used car, it's an adventure for sure, but I'm addicted to the feeling of taking a car someone else ####ed up and getting all the kinks worked out.

God know's I've done it a few times.

Bumping this thread....

I'm having the same exact issue. 98 Talon. Windows XP. Evoscan works fine and creates datalog. As soon as I try to read my rom, Same thing happens as in the original post. Reflash connector is plugged in. I verified there is a red wire with gray stripe at connector and same color wire at pin 79. What am I doing wrong?
