So i recently tore down bottom end to start a rebuild and found out that i have 7 bolt rods and pistons. I know many 6 bolt guys go with the higher compression 2g 7bolt pistons but i havent heard of anyone using 7 bolt pistons on 6 bolt and many people here have said that it is impossible to fit these rods.
After buying car i have put roughly 3000 hard miles on it and motor ran very strong so this thread is just to clear up the rumors that you can hang 7 bolt pistons on a 6 bolt crank, but i really dont know someone would. LOL

Well you can obviously but there is supposed be a tight tolerance for side to side play of the rod on the journal. That gets thrown out the window if you tried to hang 7 bolt rods on a 6 bolt crank

well i never myself put the rods on i bought it the way it was and found these rods when i pulled the block apart. the side to side tolerance was way out of spec but i had no issues come up from it, the crank, bearings, rods all look good as well as cylinder walls and pistons. im just curious to know how important it is to have correct tolerance of spacing on each side of the rod or did i just get really lucky.

Ok man hate to bring up old thread but what did you end up doing? I'm putting together a Frankenstein build right now with a 7 bolt head on 6 bolt block and I have eagle rods and Aries pistons that are from a 7 bolt and want to know if it'll work??
