okay so im looking for everyone who has personal experience with the bastard 20g setups, i just had one built by Justin Whitesell,

my setup basically consists of,

-2.0 block 10.5:1 compression
-e85
-evo8 ecu
-1600cc injectors
-450walbro
-3" Megan dp with full 3" exhaust (ceramic coated)
-dsm Race manifold (ceramic coated)
-evo3 intake manifold
-PR Intercooler kit
etc etc

he put a brand new mhi center section, a machined tdo5h compressor cover, all new hardware obviously, the cast 20g wheel, and a new turbine wheel, and a Holset Actuator, the turbine housing has been ceramic coated internally and externally. ill attach some pics of everything

anyways, im looking for anyone's first hand experience with these, what flow have people seen from these? what kind of power has been made and spool times? best case would be someone who has ran an evo3 16g and traded straight for a bastard 20g to see the difference it makes?

Any feedback would be awesome, Thank you

Your question was less difficult when you posted asking about 68htas LOL. There are two versions of the 68hta, there are about 20 different versions of a 20g that will give results all over the board, most members won't read the whole thread and will just post up their experiences with the "20g" that they had, which might be miles from what you're running.

@JusMX141 or @GST with PSI will both be better suited to answer your questions then most of the guys on this board because.. Justin is the one that Built it, and Brett is the one that originally suggested it to you. Correct me if I'm wrong Brett/Justin but if I had to venture a guess I'd say probably mid-high 40lbs/min,

spool is relative.. to your setup, down to where your cams are degree'd at, your tune, and whether or not you have exhaust leaks. too many variables. How about it'll spool above 2500 and hit max boost below 6500. :p

In my experience with my tdo5h 20g, I run 28 Psi daily on my stock 6 bolt with comp cams with meth/water injection and 92 pump. I see ~45lb/min and I'm at full boost by ~3400 rpms. Because of still only having stock valve springs though I keep my redline to 7000, it pulls hard all the way there. When it used to be a big 16g it really didn't have the torque punch as much as it does now, and it fell off at around 6000. But I also never ran it with the cams. That's my experience!

So you bought a machined compressor cover and 20G wheel from somewhere and sent everything to me along with a core unit to build you a turbo you knew nothing about? LOL

Essentially yes, i got the compressor cover, the 20g wheel, and the already ceramic coated turbine housing all for $125 bucks, i was just going to run an Evo3 16g and be fine with that, but when i heard about the bastard setups from @GST with PSI it sounded like a good road to take, so i bought the parts and sent them off to you since your the best in the business and now im here trying to learn about what i purchased :D

@JoshMc

What size is the turbine housing?

On a bastard 20G, I'd say you can expect to see anywhere from 40-45lbs/min depending on boost level. I personally never logged much over 43lbs/min on about 23psi. On higher boost, you should be able to squeeze a bit more out if it.

One of the biggest issues I had with my bastard was the wastegate blowing open at high boost near redline. I could never get more than about 26psi out if it. Now, the way Justin has yours setup with the Holset actuator is that way I wanted to do it. I'm interested to see how well you're able to control boost RPM. You should have a much easier getting some more boost out of your turbo at redline with the Holset actuator.

Regarding spool, like 19gsx91 said, it's relative. On my personal setup, I swapped directly from an E316G to the bastard, and saw basically zero change in my spool times. On most setups, you'll probably be nearing full boost by 3,500 RPM.

The bastard 20G was (and still is) my favorite turbo I've ever ran on any setup. It's cheap to build, performs great, and is perfect for a mild street car. The unit that Justin has built you looks awesome. I'm sure you'll be happy with how it performs, especially on E85.

@GST with PSI what size 'measurement' are you looking for exactly on the turbine housing? i have these from when i took it apart but thats about it

It's only considered a "Sleeper 16G" or "Bastard 20G" because of the stock-appearing compressor cover. Taking that out of the equation you still have a 49178-04600 TD05H 20G....so look up results from others running a TD05H 20G for comparison; this site is full of such data. Fastest I've ever seen an unclipped 05H / cast 20G compressor setup like your go was 10.9x @ 128.xx.
