Gst with psii,

Step height and disc thickness have a very small effect on clutch holding power. Since diapram clutches use a Belleville spring they have a large range of deflection that results in the same clamp load. In fact most pp gain some clamp as the disc wears. The step height more effects release, and not very much on that either

Small effect or not, there's no question those could be contributing factors to the clutch slipping. That's why I asked the question. These are things people normally check before installing a clutch.

As I said, it's likely that all the abuse the disc saw on the last build plus driving with it improperly adjusted is what finally killed it, although it's hard to say without knowing how it was installed.

Bottom line, whatever is wrong, I'm betting it's a problem with the disc, not the pressure plate.

Whatever the problem ends up being, I'm sure Kelvin will get it sorted. He always does.

Okay here is confirmation that the tranny not is blown up. Only posted cause jon at tre insist that it is. despite surfacing the pressure plate when I turned the boost up to 33psi 4th gear is having issues holding the power. So I will go ahead and get the twin disk before the half mile event sept 17th. Stay tuned!

That's funny. I ripped my turbo timer out to get it to start :)
I am usually good with this stuff but the wiring was really unique and I am trying to follow how the hooked it up. Worst case I will have to get a complete harness they really butchered this car. Two weeks to event. Lol

You'll figure it out. Grab a beer and follow every wire.
LOL the way things look it's gonna take a few beers.. Yeah I am working on it but not stressing at the same time.

Well I figured it out. The ecu is bad. I swapped in a good one from a friends car and the car started right up will be sending this one in for repair!

Glad you figured it out.

Wrenching on the car when it's nearing crunch time is never fun.

Ok after consulting with tim I have ordered my new clutch. I will post pics as I will be changing it out this weekend. 1/2 mile event next weekend.

Clutch came in today and it looks good. It's a TZ south bend stage 4 extreme.

It is classified as a SSX pressure plate that was reworked for a bit higher clamp force than my normal SSX plate, media blasted, with a sprung HD hub 6-puck ceramic disk.

After this you will need to go to a Quarter Master gear-drive 7.25" V-Drive Rally twin disk with street flywheel and street friction disks, or an 8-leg twin with the new 1-piece race flywheel and street disks.

Tim if you had to guess what would you say the pressure plate would be clamp force wise. The clutch looks and feels pretty solid. The damper springs are also some of the thickest I have seen in a clutch disc.

It's going to be around 3000#-3200# clamp force, let me know how the pedal feel is, it should be a little more than your old SSX pressure plate. that is their heaviest duty hub as well.

can you use a micrometer and measure the thickness of the cover where it bolts to the flyhweel?

this gives you an idea.

clutch installed pedal feel is stiffer but still on the soft side. Haven't drove yet. I will have everything wrapped up tomorrow.

Impression on the clutch. It's just awesome in fact by far the smoothest engagement 6 puck I have used to date. Drove to Atlanta I stop an go traffic no problem or complaint to report. I will drive the car 2 1/2 hours today for event. After breaking it in I must say the clutch is holding 33 psi of power very nicely.

Thanks don't worry I won't run it full potential I am only going to run 30 psi I'll run full potential next Friday night in the 1/4 mile. I am no fool LOL
Sick kels ;). Looking forward to some vids and your mph you get. Will keep you in prayer for safety and the car to run flawlessly. :):rocks::thumb:

Sounds good! Happy you like the clutch!
Yeah love it. Just got to my hotel the eclipse handled every bit of the 3hr trip with ease. Now it's time to act a fool! I am at a hotel with nothing but v8 vengeance racing.
