I bought this car with a fp green hta. Has the blue fp drain and feed from the head. Drove fine last year. I replaced the (new oem oil pump (straight cut gears) and ff ofh. I ran a 4an line straight from the ofh to the turbo with an oil pressure gauge tee'd in the middle. 15 psi warm idle and about 55 psi at 4500 rpm. The problem is my compressor is coated in oil after i rev the car and the car is blowing blue smoke at high rpms. Should i run a .075 restrictor or is my turbo shot from being ran off the head?

Head feed is too-little for a FP turbo with a performance thrust bearing. Should be feeding from the filter housing regardless....FP will tell you no restrictor, although I don't recommend doing so.

Lose that terrible blue rubber drain. Stock 2G drains are $15 new from JNZ....no chance they'll ever kink, distort, split, or leak. Slot the two upper holes and use a new gasket at both ends and you're good to go. The drain may be the entire reason you're passing oil- but the damage may already be done.

Well i put back the old feed line (head) and the smoking stopped. Before when i had the oil pressure gauge teed between ofh and turbo it was only showing 45 psi max. Now with the sensor straight into the ofh i have 80 psi by 3500 and holds steady (slight up and down) till 7500. When i removed the turbo tp check for blown seals the turbine wheel and heatshield was soaked in oil. Jusmx141 what size restrictor would you rec. using ? I dont want to keep using the head port. The turbo has no shaft play and spins very nicely and i,d like to keep it that way. I measured my feed line at .22. Would a .125 restrictor be enough or should i go smaller. Also should i go back to using the straight adapter on the turbo or keep this banjo bolt? Im wondering if its a volume problem not pressure.

Your typical OEM TD05H turbo is fed from the head on both DSM's and Evo's with a .070" restrictor in the line, banjos at both ends. MHI turbos actually require very little oil to operate up to a certain boost pressure when using the stock thrust parts. Turbos like 14B's and the TD05HR 16G6's found on Evo's will operate for years without an issue when using the stock head feed.

FP's performance turbos are a bit different- bigger oiling bores in the bearing housing, bigger distribution holes in the journal bearings, a thrust collar that is twice the size of stock with an additional larger oiling hole in the thrust plate....it's made to pass more oil to keep the parts lubricated better under extreme load. It's safe to say the FP turbo would want about twice the flow of oil by comparison to a 14B or Small 16G. Moving the feed line to the filter housing and taking away the restrictor will easily triple the pressure and volume, so ideally you'll want to be feeding from the filter housing with a restrictor of around .070" like the stock head feed line contains. This will increase the pressure to a safer level to keep all of the internal parts lubricated but will not flood the bearing cartridge with oil that it cannot effectively drain.

*Disclaimer* If the turbo is new, oil it however FP tells you to protect your warranty. I still say the blue rubber oil drain is a major contributing factor in your oil consumption, however.

Ok thanks. I actually ordered the 2g drain line yesterday after researching it a bit. I think that and with the .070 restrictor on the ofh it should keep the oil out of the exhaust .
