Here it is!!! The 3D printed bezel came in. Still need to trim the outside to fit the curvature of the 2g bezel.

Also need to finish up coding the small screen. It's run by an arduino uno. Currently it's just displaying the images and text. It will turn the turn signals/high beams on/off and serve as the odometer.

Other 2 gauges will be egt and oil pressure which are still in the car currently. Nice to see the project starting to come together. It's been a pile of parts for a while!!

Designed the back panel tonight. This is the piece that will secure the 2 screens and has standoff for the lcd driver for the 7" screen and stand offs for the arduino. The raspberry pi will be mounted remotely in the dash as there was not much room. Added a few small details as well that you will never see when it's installed but I think it's a neat feature.

Submitted it tonight to shapeways so it should start printing tomorrow. Should have it in 1.5-2 weeks. Gives me some time to finish the code on the arduino for the turn signals, high beams and odometer.

Got the back plate in Friday and fit the lcd driver and arduino uno to it. I also started cutting down the main plate shown above to get it to fit into the stock cluster. Will post pics once I get it mocked up. Here's the back plate though.

This is pretty sweet man, i really like that center pod replacememt! Well done for that as its brilliant!!! Keep up the great work your doing

Well I had some time today to work on the dash, install my b&m shifter and got my vin plate installed.

I had an eBay short throw shifter in for many years. I can't believe how much smoother and solid the b&m shifter is over the eBay one. I'm very lucky to have grabbed up one of these.

Here's the vin plate installed. Man the little things can make such a difference.

Ive got mine aswell just not had a chance to out it on yet, they are sweet,

It was so worth the money. That corner of the bay no longer gives me a pit in my stomach when I pop the hood :hellyeah:
Yeah i ended up putting my fues for my amp there but its going to be my location for my fuel filter soon anyway so i shall find a nice new location for the plate, after all want to show it off since it can now be seen and is not a mess LOL

Got a chance to get the bezel installed on the oem trim. I ended up hacking up the back most white part of the gauge assembly to retain the stock mounting holes. Gotta love jb plastiweld. Painted it using truck bed liner to give it the texture.

Looks great, really nice going. How did you get the main screen to read all the functions of the car?

Well work and school have been insane recently. For a few months now the car has been burning some oil. I suspected valve stem seals since it really only showed signs at start up and idle. I have been super busy and it's not my daily so I was hoping I could limp it along and enjoy the car some more before winter. Recently it started to get worse so I took today and tomorrow off of work to have time to swap them out. Guess I was right...

These were felpro valve stem seals that had under 3000 miles on them. Not sure why they failed so early. I went OEM this time. Hopefully they hold up. Better

Also started playing around with dash design layouts for the pi dash.

Oh and my ethanol sensor died as well would be too bad if I didn't have some random mixture of 93 and e85 in the tank right now. Even caught it dieing in a data log.

Well winter has set in, the car is officially parked in the garage for the winter. Time to start digging into the things I wanna get done this winter. Here's a quick punch list:

Fuel system cleaning
New axles - ordered
New front wheel bearings - ordered
New clutch
New axle seals - ordered
Install fender braces
Install bumper braces
Inspect squeak in rear passenger side
Install new digital gauge cluster
New battery box

Something's I have been putting off like the axles seals, installing the fender braces and bumper braces.

The wheel bearings are not bad yet but they are 20 years old now with over 150,000 miles. Because of that, there's no way in hell I'm getting the axles off so I ordered new ones of those.

My stage 1 south bend clutch can no longer keep up since I have turboed the car. This does not come as a surprise since that clutch was only rated for 250 ft lbs. First choice right now is a non-modular stage 3 south bend clutch. Since the clutch needs to be replaced and the trans has to come out, that triggered the axle seals, axle and bearing replacement since I'll be in there anyways. I would like to refresh the trans too but I don't have the press needed right now to do so, so that will wait.

Fuel system could use a good cleaning too. The last time I had the car out it was running lean out of nowhere so I am suspecting it's a fuel issue. I haven't looked at the filter in 2 years but also thing I will be upgrading my el cheapo Russell filter to a fuelab filter with a check valve in it. Not cheap at all, but should help keep my FICs clean and clear.

Excited to get the digital gauge cluster installed as well since it's been staring at me since I got it together. More to come on all of it along with pics as I go.

rarely am I impressed by 420 builds, but your attention to detail and unque approach to all the small details and electronics has me captivated, much props on the build, I can say it's one 420a car I'd bepoud to own.

How hard is the arduino dash stuff to do? I have a tonof arduino stuff I bought when radio shack was going out of business I just haven't taken thetimeto learn the coding but I'd love to learn to output some of the carsignls to the small touch screen I have forit.. I have the Yun, has built in wifiand router running on Linux buti haven't done anything with it, also have the gsm board, a couple relay boards and a brushless and brushed motor driver and steper motor controller as well as some gyros and gps boards, just wish I knew what I wanted to do with them LOL

again great build man, keep updates scoming...crazy those valve seals went out that fast,, the OEM ones should hold up well

Thanks Glenn that means a lot coming from you. I appreciate the kind words.

The pi for the dash wasn't hard at all.

The arduino which is more C based is a steep learning curve to get things accomplished. The plus side is the huge community support and amount of information out there. I'm still struggling with mine to get it to do the simple turn signal display. Mostly because I haven't had a ton of time to spend on it due to my masters classes and work.

My best advice for you, especially if you have no C background, is to go into the arduino website and go through the beginner tutorials. It will give you the good basics for it. Then some google searching and you can typically find code very similar to what you are trying to do. Understanding it and what it's doing is the hard part.

I found this thread a week or so ago and it has me itching to implement individual egt probes on each cylinder.

From what I have seen, arduino and Ras pi, if you can think of something you want to do, there's a 99% chance a bread out board exists for it if you need one.

My new clutch came in the other day. It's a south bend stage 3 clutch rated for 400 ft lbs. this should be plenty for what I'm looking to do and still be decent to drive.

This will go in along with an OEM TOB, new axles and bearings once I can get some time off work and brave the cold garage.
