Hello I have a couple of questions for the members concerning my 97 gst spyder. I just recently purchased it and she seems to run pretty well. Idles nice. All stock. Theres two problems with the gst , for one the oil pressure , once shes warm, is low at idle but is fine once the rpms go up. Could be the sending unit or? The second problem is a miss under load at least that's what it feels like. Im going to give the gst a plug and wire change and some general maintenance but is there things that I should be looking for that are out of the ordinary providing the things I try don't work on the miss. I've read about boost leaks and how important general maintenance is for these cars but any suggestions would be appreciated.

The stock oil pressure gauge usually reads low at idle (about the first line), then goes up upon acceleration.
Considering the car is 20 years old and stock you most likely have several boost leaks, many times simulating a misfire (no codes, correct?) Make a tester and use soapy water to detect leaks.
The stock bov is junk and is usually leaking at this point. Replace it with a 1g or evo aluminum bov.

My stock oil pressure gauge is broken too, got an aftermarket.

It's on my list to fix eventually... But if you take the wire off the sending unit (with key at ON position or car running) and connect it to a ground wire: if the oil pressure needle pegs out at the top = your sending unit is bad. If nothing happens = then it's something with your plug, wiring or the gauge.

Replace the fuel filter. It's no fun to change, so the PO may have let it go too long. You'll need strong fuel pressure as your boost levels come back up.

Thank you for your posts. I will get these things done and let you all know how it goes. I really appreciate the help.

Don't go throwing money at a fuel filter just yet. It's also a huge pain to do if you have never done it before and can potentially make things worse. Do a boost leak test like others have said and go from there. Plugs and wires is a good idea as well.

Do a boost leak test, but don't assume the previous owner took care of basic maintenance.

"Throwing money" at a $15 fuel filter is just wise, on many levels. I read so many Help! threads on here from members -- new and seasoned -- that just want to quickly fix an issue without thinking how basic maintenance affects their performance.

So often, car owners have their minds jump to the complicated, or most expensive cause of a problem, only to find out it was something simple.

There are a myriad of articles on 'Tuners and YouTube videos to guide you through the process of boost leak tests and other basic maintenance. BTW, as for searches, we have had better success going to a search engine and typing in what we want to find in 'Tuners, and them following that link back in.

Best of luck and welcome to the forum.
