well if you want to remove the block from the car the way it is now
this is what you need to do:
if you haven't already, unbolt the clutch slave cylinder from the bellhousing.

see the 2 blue brackets in the picture. they go from the block to the bottom of the bellhousing. they need to be removed and then take the 10mm bolt out that is still holding the lower cover plate to the bell housing.

========================
now it should you should be able to see the lower part of the flex plate. from the there you need to remove the 4 bolts that hold the clutch to flex plate.
this link should help you with that: http://www.2gnt.com/?d=Non_Modular_VS_Modular_Clutch

so after you the clutch / flexplate bolts out, grab 4 of your old head bolts and a chain. attach chain to block using headbolts like in pic

once you have it supported by your engine hoist, remove the 4 or 5 bolts holding the block and bell housing together. use a pry bar between the bellhousing and flexplate to help it clear while you lift the block out.

Im gonna have too remove it my dad dint put the water pump or the oil pump on the block as far as I can see. Do you have a picture of where the valve cover bolts go specifically by chance?
