I am asking for a friend. 92 talon fwd 5 spd-stock n/t.

Would it be cost effective to turbo this car or to purchase a 4g63t and drop it in?

Also can someone link anything that gives info about what he would need to swap out to turbo his existing motor? TIA!

There is a complete write up under the "turbo" section on that site. Get familiar with it.

I've done it, and in my opinion it's cheaper to rebuild your current na block, but it'll be easier and quicker to just buy a complete turbo motor. It's time vs money, your call.
Hit the nail RIGHT on the head

wiser still would be to get a turbo car.
just a short list of things that are different
block
pistons
rings
cams
throttle bidy
ecu
harness
clutch
flywheel
instrument cluster
downpipe
injectors
transmission
axles
and of course the necessary turbo, piping, manifold intercooler and o2 housing
if you still want to do it be aware of all of this....and after all of that its still fwd.

If you wanna do things on the cheap buy used parts, biggest thing would be getting a good set of used turbo pistons, everything else stock wise is very cheap to buy.

I have my old stock tsi pistons however, all 4 of them have valve marks. Would it effect them or can he use them safely?

I tried to get him to buy a tsi, but he is in love with his car. He says the look, the feel... he won't part with it.

Hell even I upgraded my 2g n/t and bought a 2g tsi with a 6 bolt swap.

But I do have a lot of "spare" parts from when I rebuilt my engine. I have the pistons(with valve marks)/rods, will have piping/intercooler to spare as well as my 14b turbo by spring. I am also aware of where a stack of ecu's are sitting as well as a harness for him. I will have the injectors and fuel pump by next month sitting around as well. All of this is stock 6 bolt or ebay crap I replaced.

Not sure what else he would need but I have a chunk of parts and he's like family so I'd sell them well under my cost.
