Oh i just picked these up at the metal store they are supposed to be caster plates. Looks like a rough plasma cut, i won't be using those holes, I'm just welding the square to the bottom of the leg.

Makes sense. I usually try to use plasma pierce holes as pilots and drill to size after that. It's hell on the drill bits, but it's usually pretty accurate and much quicker than laying out a pattern of holes.

Nice collectors.

I welded a water temp switch bung into my radiator and an oil temp sensor bung into my oil pan.

Very new to mig welding, so take it easy on me. I think I had the wire speed too high? Please let me know if the welds on the toe eliminators need redone.

In general, if you're getting spitting/sputtering of the arc, your wire feed is too high or your voltage is too low. If you're getting a crazy high buzzing sound and it is hard to control the puddle, your wire feed is probably too low or voltage too high. Getting the parameters right is a balancing act. For short circuit transfer, you want a nice sizzling bacon sort of sound.

Thanks, I had to move the gun really fast, so I figured wire speed. Looks like there was plenty of heat to me because of the discoloration on the larger piece, but I am far from an expert.

Heat signatures in general are not a good way to measure penetration or fusion. Looking at the pictures, you're probably fine on the welded in plugs. There is plenty of melting back of the lip on that piece. Having owned one of those kits, I'd feel comfortable saying you're probably good on the trailing arm end if you have that much melting of the plug, because the plugs will be a very large thermal mass that will be harder to melt than the trailing arm.

With that said, nothing is certain and if you're not comfortable with your abilities on a critical suspension item, you should probably take it to an expert. It'd be a shame to gamble your life on something that should only cost $100 to complete.
