ever have one of those nights everything you touch explodes?

so i thought i had everything ready to mount the he341 on my 2.4l stroker build but it did not go as i had hoped. i started working on clocking the holset and i thought i could get away with only clocking the cold side. cut the wastegate mount off and lined it up and tacked it to the housing and went to weld it in and no matter how much i fought it i was not getting solid welds on the cast housing.

i fought it all night and almost got enough bubble gum stuck to it to keep the bracket in place so i went ahead and put the turbo back together and mounted it on the motor. even that did not go well as now the oil fittings are way over 10 degrees angle. so the turbo has to come off again and clocked on both hot and cold sides. that is o.k. though because i figured out why the weld was so garbage, as i was putting stuff away i noticed my line pressure was almost 0. i checked and made sure the knob was on and it was, so i pulled the line off and there was crud in the fitting on my argon tank. the argon tank does not get used a lot. i guess i should get a cap that fits on it.

its good the turbo has to come off anyway, as the weld cracked a little since there was only tiny puffs of shield gas making it through and i did not notice and had the heat cranked up so hot i was popping the breaker on the house every minute.

i totally should have parked my arse on the couch and drank beer all night, atleast there would be less to fix than the mess i have now.

also with the giant holset mounted exactly as a t25 would sit there was a fair amount of grinding that had to take place. and getting ANY sort of exhaust pipe on is going to be a challenge.
