Just an update; struts are holding up fine, and there's been several occasions where the hood was open over night.
The m6-1.0 tap technically requires a #9 drill bit, but I don't have metric bits and it can be difficult to find one, so I got this from HD then returned it.

They were too short so Tonight or tomorrow I'm tossing them on my buddies 2G. 1G guys need 14inch extended and 9.5-10inch compressed length and it will bolt in like PlanZero's did. Doing some digging on what to order don't see anything yet.

Thanks for sharing this! Good to know the hood will close with the struts mounted where you have them. I had this exact plan, only I grabbed 3 different pairs of struts from the junkyard and I can't remember what cars they came from. If none of them work, then Chrysler 300 struts it is. Looks 100% stock, awesome.

Got my struts installed today. Purchased everything per "Plan Zero's" links. Took all of about a half hour to install. What a sweet set up. These things work great!

I considered the accord struts, but I didn't want to take a chance on the brackets.
I just took a chance on these http://m.ebay.com/itm/2-New-Front-H...m-Charger-Challenger-/141944932733?nav=SEARCH
since I wasn't sure about fitment, but I know strongarm also makes them albeit a little more expensive, or you can find them on rock auto. Some brands come with ball studs but most are m8 or m10 which would require tapping the fender bolt hole a little bigger and having to make a bigger hole in the hinge which I wasn't comfortable with. The only problem was the fact that the 10mm ball, m6 1.0 ball studs are a little hard to find, so I wound up having to pay $15 for a 6 pack on amazon. I plan on putting a heftier washer on the fender mounting point.
Link doesn't work anymore. I want to do the same for me and my buddy's 2Gs. Please can you clarify which exact year 300C these struts are from? And just to make sure, all that's needed is a set of these struts + 2 balljoint bolts? Thanks.
