hello everyone,
i have a daily driver 1993 NA eclipse that and my stock 7bolt 4g63 decided to shit itself. (it overheated and had lifter noise and the rollers were bad,)

i couldn't find a good 4G63 in my country, so i got a 4GCP from a Hyundai sonata until i will rebuild my 7 bolt.

the 4gcp is a 6bolt so i had to get a 6bolt flywheel and clutch.... i had to use the 4g63 transmission spacer since the 4gcp spacer didnt align with the starter (its a AT spacer)

now i have a problem....... the starter spins ( no crank of course ) but there is no contact between the starter gear drive and the flywheel....am i suppose to use a different starter for this swap? maybe remove the spacer LOL ?

THANKS

i'm 95% sure that its not a awd since there were no eclipse sold in my contry. there are only 2 of them and one is mine, plus, i got the flywheel from a fwd car as the seller claims.

Do your self a favor, remove the starter and count the teeth of the flywheel make a thick white mark where you start (tooth) and do another thin mark every 10 teeth, so this way if you loose the count you don't have to start all over again.

Rule out the flywheel first otherwise you might be chasing a tale and will take you longer to fire it out.

Let us know how many teeth it has.

There's not alot of other explanations, all things equal between the motors/transmissions and associated parts.
The other possibility is that the starter bendix isn't engaging and the motor is just spinning. U could pull the starter and bench test it to ensure the bendix is being thrown out, and if it is, then you have a flywheel issue.

hello and thanks for the replys,
the starter itself is fine and e bendix is being thrown out.

well, the flywheel is not from a AWD, but it might be smaller then the 7 bolt, :(
i have a new problam now, the clutch isnt releasing when i push the pedal, we tried to push start the car but when the car is in gear and clutch is pressed the car wont move :( :( :(

i'm pissed now LOL,
here are a couple pics of my new sonata 4gcp engine and the eclipse tranny casting stamp, can anyone tell me which flywheel \ clutch combo i need,
THANKS!!!!

Did you bleed the clutch properly? Also check the travel of the fork when the clutch pedal is pressed

Did you ever figure out what was preventing the clutch from disengaging?
Any luck on finding out which flywheel was needed for that setup?
