Found this unit. It's a 110 amp alternator, with a vacuum pump. Standard unit on the Pajero (non US) and L2/300 Delica's. Just wondering if anyone has attempted to use this setup in a DSM? If you don't know why you'd want or need a vacuum pump in your car this obviously isn't for you. I can't seem to find any information on how much vacuum the pump actually pulls. I see it's only for the 4D56 (turbo diesel) engines (which makes sense because diesel engines don't pull vacuum in the intake, so a pump is needed to actuate the brakes). I don't know if I want to take the chance at $350. Obviously you could just run a Moroso or other brand vacuum pump, just thought maybe this would help with the install part, as well as, provide a higher amperage alternator (another plus).
I've been looking at a few upgraded alternators and setting up a vacuum pump in my car, this seems like it could be a easier fix. The problem is since it's a non US part, I'd be forced to import it (or a replacement) if something where to go wrong. The other problem, thus far, is trying to figure out just how much (in/hg) vacuum this pump could pull (obviously RPM dependent) and how long it would last..
