1G Is the 90amp alternator from a 91 really worth it?

Its only 15 amps, will that make much of a difference? I can get one by taking mine back and paying 30 differenve versus 300 for an alterstart model thats 150amps

I bought my HO 150amp alternator for 157.00 on Amazon! Where are you shopping?
I checked where you got yours... they wanted 299 same with alterstart... that ebay one is priced right where id like to see..

Still the question is how much better would 90amp be for me in the meantime. The manager is willing to trade mine out so its saving me money for now. The 140amp would be something i want of course but wanted to see if anyone had experience with the 90amp.

Then get the ebay one. I see mine for 160.00 not sure who you checked.

Sounds like you need heat shields
yup! That was my main problem, i was running no exhaust and no heat shield for a good while. But then i realised as much as i love the pick up in turbo spool and noise it was super heating my oil pan, oil filter housing and alternator. I changed back to a stock O2 housing and made a heat shield for it but im still killing alternators.

get the stock shields(both) and have someone jetcoat them as well as wrap your downpipe... dont keep replacing alternators
