So the other day I was driving to work and went to turn ad I hear loud noise like screathching. does it only when turning.
So I just jacked the car up and turned the steering wheel no noise at all. Started car to see if that would change anything nope. No noisee.
Power steering fluid full, belts tight, rack and pinion don't seem to be leaking, no tears on any ball joints I can see, but when on the ground the noise is there.
Any thoughts?

Jack your car up and try to shake the wheel. You shouldn't be able to. If you can your wheel bearing is on its way out. Only thing I can really think of making that noise if you checked out your suspension and steering already.

Does it happen when turning either direction, or just one? Have you checked to make sure you aren't rubbing the plastics in the wheel wells? No pinched rubber boots anywhere in the steering rack?

UPDATE
I decided to drain the power steering fluid and refil. So I did. Also I sprayed all suspension with wd40.
Took it for a test drive. So far no noise. 1 of the 2 must of worked haha.

I think there is a leak.

Could possible be the strut mount. I've heard them make noise similiar to yours.

The strut top was my first thought too because I've heard the same sound from the strut isolator on a buddy's Conquest TSI (remember Those!) but those are a different kinda strut and these struts don't move enough under these circumstances to make this kinda racket (IMHO). I'm sticking with the upper ball joint.

Replacing the lower ball joints is damn near impossible on a 2g, mostly because it's hard to find the proper ball joints and you can buy either of the lower arms for 30-50. You need to find out which one is bad. If its not totally obvious that it's the top use a length of rubber hose as a stethescope to confirm or eliminate. The lowers are more of a pain to diagnose. I just had the same issue and I really couldn't tell until I used a ball joint separator (an invaluable $20 tool) to find out my lateral arm BJ was popping. There was no play in the wheel and no torn boot. A lot of times you can just put your hand on each ball joint as someone turns the wheel and you can feel it. If you're replacing a ball joint or control arm do yourself a favor and get Moog or OEM (look on eBay for NOS- I just picked up a set of OEM lateral arms for $50). They will fail eventually as well, but take much longer to do so.
I've replaced so many control arms over the years on all of my DSMs I can say I'm 90% sure its one of the three ball joints SCREECHING

Yah I just been doing some research and trying to find the best options for suspension parts.
I think I am going to go with Adjustable Upper Balls Joints SPC 67170 for both sides- the actual arm is not damaged
I replaced both Lower compression arms and Lower Later arms last year.
Pretty sure that the upper control arms are aftermarket as they don't look like the OEM ones.

So I figure I will start with the Upper Ball joints and see if it fixes it. If not At least I will be able to adjust camber later ha.

Got new lower control arm with balljoint. Put it on and no more squeak. The old one was really stiff hard to move by hand.
Anyways thanks all for the help!
Resolved.
