Keep that thing out of the NY salty winters! Nice looking spyder though and good luck with your build. Had to look up "Walden" to see where the heck that was

Keep focused on the build my journal has like nothing in it at the moment I have so many pictures to take of mine. Its tough DSM's take alot of money , but they do look good ! :thumb:

Yea at some point every body is right is depend how u see it.
Bottle line u have a great car.
And a long way to go .
Lets support each other people every day I see less and less eclipses out there

Your title claims to be building something you aren't. In months since the "build" was first started, you have listed a bunch of parts on a wish list but done nothing to install them. We don't even know if you have sourced any of the stuff.

I encourage you to build to your goal, but be realistic. If you think I'm trying to be rude, imagine the responses I'd get if I started a build "Track build: Putting a 4g63T into a Ferrari." The first post would be "All I need is a 4g63T and a Ferrari." 5 months later, I've done some work here and there on a VW Golf, posted a few pictures, but have done absolutely nothing in effort to acquire an engine or chassis to begin my build because I have encountered an unwavering circumstance of the lack of time, finances or knowledge. "Some day I'll do it, I just can't tell you how or when." That's a bunch of "ricer" speak.

If bullying is what you like to call pointing out facts, than I guess I'll graciously accept your derogatory label.

Get off his nuts man. He's got a goal, and he's half way there. He's got a clean car. Big deal if it's going to take him a while. I started in the same situation when I was his age. I was 19 making minimum wage, going to college and paying rent. I still had my goals. And I more than reached those goal eventually. I did way more to my car than I ever imagined I would. It just took a while.

It's a build thread anyway, these things don't from over night. I'm still wrenching on my DSM and I've had it for almost a decade

Everyone is allowed to have a build thread and goals for their car. If they don't approach the build the same way you do, they aren't wrong. They can document their build, change their mind, and do whatever they want with their car. If you don't like it, don't post.

The thread has been cleaned up. If we continue down this path warning will have to be handed out.

Mini Update:
-March 5th, 2014-

Just a small update... On a smaller note I've been battling a problem of what I believe is being caused by the transmission. Once the cars been at running temp for a certain amount of time the car develops acceleration problems between the 1800-2600 rpm range. Under normal acceleration the car will accelerate and than hit a certain rpm and than start to slowly drop (foot is still on the gas) and than once it drops about 200-300 rpms the car starts to jerk and the rpms bounce. It goes away if you let off the gas or practically floor it. You could see how this would be annoying as following another car doing anywhere from 35-55 will be in that range for keeping your car at a consistent speed. Regardless after a lot of research I believe the transmission needs new fluid and a new filter. I ordered a new filter, OEM ATF fluid and a gasket for the pan from STM on monday night so hoping to have a lot done in the next week or two! Stay tuned!

We have the same thing on our '99 auto Spyder, and I don't think that is a transmission problem, since we just had the transmission rebuilt. It is more like a characteristic of the automatic when the TC is locked up. It is annoying, and I've developed ways of working the throttle at low cruising speeds that make the jerking less noticable. It would be great to have other 2.4L auto owners comment if they experience something similar.

Thanks for sharing your progress. Your updates are tasteful and make it your own.

BIG Update
May 2014 to May 2016

Well after some time of not bothering posting on here due to negative people I decided I won't let negative people stop me from sharing my car with other like minded people who enjoy these cars just as much. I don't have a ton of pictures however I'm going to try to take more in the future so I can document everything and look back at everything down the road. Now with that said an update!

List of parts installed on the car last year:

-Punishment Racing FMIC
-Greddy BOV
-AFCO Radiator and Mishimoto Hoses
-Forced Performance intake
-Evo 3 16G
-Full turbo back Megan Racing Exhaust
-Fuel Lab FPR
-FIC 850ccs
-ECMLink V3
-Speed Density
-Innovative wideband and boost gauge
-Evo 8/9 Brembos
-Enkei PF01 Evo's
-Toyo Proxies

Oh yeah and the car is now a 5 speed awd spyder! :hellyeah:

I just pulled the motor last month to do some small things and am now in the process of putting it all back together, motors in and hoping to have a first start in about 6 months (put her away for the winter)

Small list of recent activities:

-New timing belt, pulleys, etc.
-ARP Headstuds
-New Headgasket
-Forced Performace exhaust manifold
-Painted a lot of stuff black haha
-Shimmed the transmission's shift fork ball
-Solid motor mouts
-Solid shifter bushings inside and out
-Overall cleaning

Probably missing some stuff but there will be better updates from now along with pictures. Anyway here's some random pictures from the last year!

Just read the whole thread and love the car. I wish there wasn't the hate so there would have been more updates. Do you have pics of the awd swap? Either way great job and keep the updates coming.:thumb:

I do not unfortunately, not hard at all just requires a decent amount of labor. Took about a week for me and my buddy to complete

Wow great job on the build so far. You've done more to your 2g in 1 year than I've done to mines in 9 yes haha. Keep up the great work. Do you know how much power your making now and boost level?

I'm at 25 lbs and I'd guess based on what other people make with a 16G and similar mods around 350/350 hp/tq. Just a guess, I'll have it dyno'd eventually
