ETS Custom Eagle Talon intercooler installed with fog lights. :D They forget to stencil the ETS logo, however, they are sending me a stencil so I can rock their logo.

I love this car! Want to trade for my red 97 tsi? Please!! :)

Thanks for the compliment. I appreciate it :hellyeah:

Unfortunately, I don't have any updates on the car as I'm losing interest in her, and wanting a different car when I'm done with school.

However, my wife got a nice 97 auto gsx that we will be building over the summer and winter months.

You defiantly have a strong talent for restoring and mechanical work! My red97 is in pretty decent condition, but not as nearly as nice as yours. I would LOVE to have a black 2gb tsi, there my favorite car. If you ever want something to restore/work on keep my in mind. I would drive my car to you, trade/pay you for yours :)!

Not much of update as the car is still doing well. However, really considering parting out the car to help fund another build that I want to do. The turbo and fuel system will probably go towards my wife's gsx build, but if there is enough interest in the rest I will part every piece out. If I decide to move on I will post a detailed sale ad.

Thanks for keeping us updated. If you ever decide to part with your fmic and piping let me know :)

Will do sir. As of right now I'm keeping the car until I'm at least finished with nursing school in May.

I will be installing a new OEM clutch master and slave cylinder along with the extreme psi stainless steel line this week. I also have to fix a leak on the transfer case, so I pick up some new seals and new yoke from extreme psi.

Plans for this winter are to return to pump gas and send my FIC injectors off to get cleaned. I will be finally deleting all of the red emblems and ricer red calipers by painting everything black. Looking forward to some black friday/christmas sales and some snow falls for AWD drifts and donuts LOL.

My 98 TSI is missing it's fog lights because of some cheapy intercooler that takes up way to much room. I really like yours. My car is black like yours and I love the lines they have but yours is prettier than mine! I hope to get mine running again this year, it just needs a engine swap and I have it but don't seem to have enough time to go around.

I'm right in the middle of installing the same ETS intercooler, however I am forced to pair it with CX racing short route piping, it looks like it should work. I have the front bumper off, do I also need to separate the bumper and the crash bar? The intercooler is still 2 days out in shipping, so I figured I would go ahead and remove the bumper and look around.

Your Talon looks amazing, man! Really shows all the hard work you've put into her/it or whatever Talons regard themselves as, LOL.

I'm still fixing mine up so it will be a long way before it looks close to yours. Can I ask, did you paint the lettering and front emblem yourself, or do they sell them like that? I only know that from the factory they come either silver or purple. If you painted them yourself, what kind of paint did you use?

Thanks and good luck with both projects!

Actually, the front emblems come in many colors, like black, red, white, gray, green, etc. This one is a red one with black paint and was done by the previous owner. Sometimes eBay has them for cheap instead of the $80- $100 some places want. I pick up a new OEM nos magenta gray one for $30, a few months back.

Th3ory, did you get the talon ets intercooler liked we talked about? If so what size?

Yes, I picked up a used one, I believe its the 450hp rated unit; 7" tall, 3" thick. Not sure if I will be able to keep the fogs or not as its in the process of being shipped to me, should have it tomorrow.

However, I do have the piping kit I'm going to use. I'm dealing with some hotside i/c piping fitment issues, as I'm running a T-28. Its the CX Racing short route kit, its for there 29" end-to-end fmic and the ETS is 33"... Its pretty close but is going to need some minor modifications, just hope I am able to get it to fit.

Yeah, you won't be able to keep the fog lights with that intercooler. If you scroll up a few posts, you can see one of those ets intercoolers in the background.

I had a feeling I wouldn't be able to keep them, I was ok with either/or. Just happy to get the ETS :), and also a short route kit that is a close match. I'm going to try and figure it out tomorrow with either; two longer hose's or one added section of pipe. If it works ill snap a few pictures for reference to anyone looking for a 2.5 short route kit.

Small update: I recently changed to an Evo 3 intake manifold that has been ported and powder coated wrinkle black. I even put the black ETS pipes on with a new purple Tial bov. I pick up a set of billet aluminum brake and clutch reservoir brackets from gsxdude (freelancer). However, after seeing how beautiful these pieces were, I could not bring myself to install them with nasty looking reservoirs, so I bought new ones as well. I will be starting on the wife's gsx build now so my car is done for a while. A few key pieces on the gsx build; strictly rear axles, kiggly trans parts, 6-bolt swap, rebuilding driveshaft, and much much more!

Finished installing new OEM lower control arms and MOOG tie rods & sway links in the front. What a pain in the ass those ball joints can be to remove even with a pickle fork.

Not many of us that call it a pickle fork! I haven't seen that in awhile.

Long overdue, but I have found myself wanting to sell the car and focus on the wife's gsx and my new car. I've sold a lot of rare talon parts, which has led me to sell the car as well. This is the last update for my Talon as I'll either sell it or let it sit. I don't think I'll document the wife's build as we have been working on it for a while without wanting to post it. Again, thanks to the dsm community, but I'm out.
