So I am back. I got bit with the DSM bug with my 98 GST I had and sold before I could enjoy it.

But.

Long story short, was blessed with opportunity to pick this up. Its a 128K mile - Clean title - Unmolested (basically) - Auto. Has a FIPK - Hard SMIC pipes - 1G BOV - boost gauge in dash. Car upon pickup has a slight leak from the radiator - has new timing belt and some other parts but has an oil leak - needs a cleaning.

I wil take more pics.....

Oh.....and the trans has no 4th or reverse. I will check all the obvious things first before I post up something stupid.

So heres some pics after the 2.5 hr drive to get it. With my son posing! Lol. I dont know what face he is making?

Found out the car has a 16G on it. IDK what injectors or tuning it has? I assume 550s? It starts up and idles perfect. Or...may be stock ones with a 16G? IDK. Any idea on how to ID injectors?

Got it unloaded and washed. A/C works - heat works-all works! Gonna try and buff the faded rear bumper, get a tasteful front lip and use quick disconnects.

Pics.

Why Quick Disconnects? The car looks so clean and IMO that's kinda a Honda fan boy look.

But maybe you like them. Each his own. Very clean car. Good find!

Good point. I may not do it. I had been given a set and really wanted to use them on something.

Here is the reason its so cheap........

Which actually - I hope isnt that bad a fix. front clutches (upgraded ones) are cheap - new fluid and filter and maybe a roadsurge box are in the cards.

Found out the turbo is a MHI Evo 3 16G.

Found out the car is on stock fuel - not even a rewire. So I have to stay at stock boost less I run into issues. I plan on doing a pump rewire ASAP.

Pulled the bumper, it needs a little love - cleaned behind the bumper - looks mint. Pulled the headlights to clean and polish them up.

The SMIC was pulled as well because is was grody.....pressure washed it - getting new clips to hold the duct on proper and at work today I will clean the inside of it. I dont plan on going with a FMIC at least for awhile as my power plans are modest. 300 whp - full interior

I plan on upgrading the trans when I fix it. Use these. With a new filter and fluid - I may even pull the valve body down and clean it out in case the fibers from the worn front clutch set have clogged up the passages.

Took the SMIC to work, cleaned it out. Got new clips for the duct work. Found so far in this SMIC a rubber cap the size of a half dollar and a gob of rtv....I assume the PO tried to block off the BOV recirc? Bad pic.....sorry it was "jiggling".........

All cleaned up....inside and out. Still not MINT - but a whole lot better than it was.

And back on

Headlights are as done as I will get them....budget doesn't allow to replace them. I may hit them again once on the car. Should put them back in today or tomorrow.

Nice find for sure! Just FYI, I've used these same lights before and they are very nice for the price, something to consider. Good luck with the build!

Thank you! Nice link, thank you.

IDK. I mean at this point I want the trans fixed. Thats my priority. I plan to do easy stuff first.....pull the valve body and clean it and a new filter. See where that puts me. Its needed anyhow so?

I am going to rewash it again, and try to clean the trim up. Im THIS close to pulling the seats out to pull the carpet to take it to the power wash. Thats a dangerous road for me......once I start pulling things I have a habit of not putting them back.

Course.....that would be a good reason to do a proper fuel pump rewire and run the wiring OCD style.....braided and sleeved with heat shrink.

Mmmmmmmmm.......

Oh yeah, headlights are back in..........bulbs reused from my Colorado. 9005 and 9006.....woot. Found a missing machine screw needs replacement so the fog light isnt wobbly.

Pulled the valve cover today. Cleaned it at work and have begun to wrinkle black it out.

No sludge under the cover. Thats good. Will update.

Really need a radiator. Anyone have a second hand one for sale? Prefer an aluminum unit.

Also.....pretty sure I will be relocating the battery to the rear. IDK why....easier to do a fuel pump rewire....plus I get to pull more stuff out! So yeah that makes no sense.....

Still here......some updates.

Valve cover back on - cleaned up some brackets and painted them up.

My manifold was beginning to crack. So scored one off of FB , and ported it along with some clean up and paint.

Ported the J pipe. Which I later found out was pointless.....

Found a radiator. CX Racing. - very nice actually.

Drove it down to the gas station. Still no gears over I guess third? Trans is in process of coming out to rebuild. Some nice parts going in. Kiggly front clutches - IPT end clutches - valve body rebuild with IPT shift kit (translab) - maybe a larger cooler?
