Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

ya the only problem is that I don't want my car to be over 400whp and I think that hx35 with my 2.3l stroker motor would put over that mark my car is just a gst so that much power on a front wheel drive car would not be very good im not even planning on pushing full boost on the 20g I was thinking like 14 psi even though safely I could push like 25-28

but thanks for ur help

MHI 20G (from fp). From what I've read the super 20g is prone to leaking fluids. You can't beat the quality of MHI if you're picking between those two.
WTF

You DO realize they're both the same turbo, right? Hahn clocks the housings and does a little machine work...that's all. FP even tells you this in a round-about way right in the second paragraph of the description of the MHI 20G on their site.

Right so i might as well place this here then to start a new thread.

I need help on choosing the correct turbo for my needs and setup.
My choices are an evo 3 16g or a 16g/20g hybrid type setup. Both internal gated but would do the 34mm flapper and i want to run 20psi! As its a block and head and HG. Will be running 99 ron or 95 mon converted to US spec.

My current mods are as listed in my profile and my supporting mods will be these. Mishimoto z line intercooler, own made short route piping, evo 9 fuel pump re wired, evo 8 maf, evo 8 560cc injectors, fuelab fuel feed filter and afpr kits, fp cast race manifold,

I think thats all im getting/got for supporting mods. I might have missed off a few small things.

I dont really have HP goals at the moment (future is about 400-500HP) but i am worried my 20psi might be a tad low for a 20g in a TD05H 16g but not sure. My plans are to track it a few times next year.

Any suggestions would be great. I would like to run the 20g but only if its good on my psi level and supporting mods.

Thanks Bobby

OK quick complicated question. Getting ready to upgrade to a bigger turbo and was wondering what people think. I am currently running an evo 3 16g on my auto 1g and am looking to push into the 500 - 600 hp range looking at an fp red or green. I have no trans mods at this time (but those will come). Really which one would be better for the street with spool time but still have the umph to push good power with out pushing it too hard. Oh, I will be switching to e85 when I swap turbos.

If you don't want to resetup your stall/mod your transmission at all, stick with the fp green. If you want a solid 500 plus hp, Google the Borg Warner s256, s258, or s259 with .55 a/r bep housing. Maperformance has the 256 and redline automotive I think has almost every combination possible for the s200 turbos.
In the Borg Warner route, you'll want to play with a restall along with other mods.

Anything bigger than a TD05H turbine wheel will not spool on the stock converter at the line. You'll also most likely start to kill the clutches pretty quickly at that level. I'd do the trans basics first (cooler, shift kit, end clutch upgrade, shift box), then worry about more power. If you're set on keeping the stock converter, maybe look into the Borg EFR7163.

Look into getting a 35 or 50 shot for launching. You can spool an HX40 pretty quick with a 50 shot even on a stock converter. Look into a restalled IPT converter. Drives like stock .

Patience been getting things done gonna go all out when I do v band and t3 set up because race car. Lots of networking on fb getting parts built bottom end and new cams this winter I'm just getting started.

The Holset life is a special breed. The setup costs more than the turbo, and man they can take a beating. Maybe something the OP wants to consider also. I'm swapping my 50mm H1c for a 56mm HX35 soon, when the seized exhaust housing decides to give it up already LOL

Holsets are proven over and over again! You can get yourself into a nice hx40 for 200 bucks and buy a rebuilt center section for as cheap as 100 bucks. I personally am going to run an he351. Non vgt. I have one on my 8v dodge omni and its nasty. Any diesel turbos will lag less than you think because of they way they are designed to run with cooler egts and lower air speeds.
