Hey guys, this is my first post, and I'm 100% new to dsm.
I bought a 95 tsi awd with 79,400 miles about three weeks ago for $800. They said all it had was an oil leak.

The oil feed line for the intake side of the turbo had a pin sized hole in it and I got it braized for free.

Then I got under it.
Apparently the cat had been cut out the day before I bought it (got it at a dirty buy here pay here lot) . And now I have a bank one sensor 2 heater circuit failure CEL.
My rear control arms are almost rusted out.
And my brake lines for the passenger rear rusted out and busted as well.
My local muffler shop said he could make a 3inch turbo back exhaust for $450

The o2 sensor is the only CEL code it shows

But when I drive it, (havent driven it since I discovered the brake lineproblem) I can smell gasoline in the cabin and it doesn't shift out of first gear (or any gear) until 4500 RPM at Full Throttle (followed by letting off a bit) and it accelerates very slowly.

So basically, my question is has anyone else ran into the shifting problem or is it normal?
Where is a good place to buy suspension components, why could I be running so lean, where can I find a full cheap exhaust to get me by for less than $200, and how should I go about repairing the brake/fuel lines while I'm at it?

im assuming this is an auto, so youll have to do some more digging than that, im not up on auto information. sounds like a line pressure issue tho.

-you could check out SRS exhausts on ebay, theyre around 200 for a catback.
-rockauto for suspension components, at least stock replacement.
-lean issue could be a slew of things, you need to do some basic testing and maintenance, these cars are maintenance whores.
-brake lines etc, i would invest in some stainless braided lines from RRE, theyre not much more than factory lines.

What weight oil are you running, and are you going off the factory oil pressure gauge? If so I would suggest and aftermarket pressure gauge to see what you're really at.

Okay! So, I went through some basic maintenance procedures and I found out that my coil pack for cylinders 1 & 4 had gone out! It runs like a dream now!
In the vid it idles at 3000rpm, but thats because i i forgot to untuck my throttle cable and bolt it back to my fuel rail, and i fixed my CEL by makeing an O2 bypass from some parts at radioshack for like 10 bucks (only until I get around to buying an exhaust.) All if the other problems have gone away (engine wise)
Just giving an update for those who care. :thumb:

I've had 2 dsms's for about 15 years now. I've learned that when buying a used dsm get ready to replace a lot. These cars are fantastic cars when properly maintained and can drive and perform extremely well. Welcome.
