Alright so where to start.. So after replacing my exhuast gasket today I went to take it for a ride and noticed I'm not building boost like I use to and I noticed it sounds like a helicopter coming from my exhaust and it back fires pretty dam bad. It also dosnt want to pick up like it should and bucks really really bad and if I try to hit wot it's like it just draws a blank and didn't even realize it's at wot engine dosnt do anything .... And at 4000 rpms it hits like red line ... And refuses to go past that.... The plugs have barly 50 miles on them the wires are new and every single sensor but the cam and crank ... Every cupler is tight and sprayed starter fluid all over and no vacc leaks... What is causing this ......

420A turbo w missing link and fuel controller

If it wont rev past 4000, the ecu is in limp mode for some reason. Probably from running lean. Like was already said, check your fuel pressure and check for exhaust leaks

I'm getting almost 40 psi of fuel to the rail it's self . and when I unhooked the like and cranked it for a slight second a lot of gas deff came thru that's for damn sure... And I changed the header mani gasket. I havnt don't a boost leak test yet no Imma do that today but I'm sure all my connections are good. I hear no exhaust at all coming from the bay nothing near like I did before that's for damn sure let alone any at all. And if anything in running very rich not lean at all. My plugs are very black but clean right off . no smoke or anything though how would I get it outta limp mode

check your o2 sensors, also check your maf sensor might me dirty or plug might be loose check that its plugged in right as well as you inlet hose. sounds like a boost leak to me. or your waste gate is not functioning properly.

If black plugs it sounds like extremely rich. Maf off or .....
Did you plug and holes with a rag and forgot to take out??
To me it sounds like something with air and fuel.
Good luck man.

Are you running a cat? If you are, running extremely rich can clog or melt the cat.

Just an fyi to people trying to help the OP, he's running a 420a-t, not a 4G63t. A boost leak won't cause his symptoms because he has a MAP sensor, not a MAF setup.

Sounds like it could be a fuel issue or missing link-related. Did you swap a brand new pump in when you turbo'ed the car?

Brand new pump as in.... What one fuel pump ? If so then yes and it's for sure priming you can hear it

I'd first start by resetting your ecu, see what happens. If you were running fine before changing the gasket, you either knocked a wire loose or some how put the car in limp mode. Not much to screw up by just changing a gasket.

Yes we know it's a 420aT because in the first post he tells us LOL. And depends on the leaks size and location. Do a boost leak test and really check over your work. Sounds like a leak somewhere (pre/post-turbo) or connecter not plugged in all the way.

Alright well I got the car to idle and even well move some what but when driving getting into higher gears like 2 3 4 it's like bucks very very hard and don't wanna accl at all I'm not running rich or anything and don't seem to wanna hit much boost at all but it's hard to tell about boost cuz it wants to buck before I even start boosting :(

If you know it's a 420a-t, then a boost leak will not be the cause of all his symptoms...

If you want to rule out the turbo setup as the cause, I would find out a way to stop the car from making boost (remove a charge pipe for example) and see if you are still getting the issues.

All fixed up. Yes it's a 420a t and no it wasn't boost related at all actually . there was a few things that added up to make this happen I found 2 vacc leaks one on the fuel managment system and another on the fpr fixed them then on the underside of the exhaust mani a bolt was loose and then the major problem was the o2 was severed only connected to the wide band not to the car but it's hitting max power now LOL)

Glad you figured it out. Be careful with those vac lines to the FMU/FPR, that's a very easy way to make your motor go boom if you boost and don't have the right amount of fuel to compensate.

Didn't say it would either guy. If he just did work there and It was fine before. Than sure seems something isn't on right or leaking alittle or both.
And still a turbo car and important to do blt every now and then a leaks a leak. And also helps finding leaky vaccum lines. And his symptoms sure do sound like a leak to me. See a blt would have shown the fpr leak! Lol

That's because you own 4G63 powered cars. The 420a doesn't have a MAF sensor like the 4g63 does so a boost leak will not make his car run terrible like it would yours. It just won't build boost/build slower.

Dude stop please. Lol he had leaks which is why I suggested the test and he also said doesn't seem to want to hit much boost at all. So please stop with the you don't have 420a blah blah crap. I've been a tech for 18 years and know both of these platforms!! Problem is solved
