I know few guys are using holset turbos on their dsm's. i have an hx 40 and i am trying to find the oil feed line kit and oil drain kit for it. So i can get that turbo on my car, I know turbo trader offers them. I ordered mines on the apr 21st and it's not here and I haven't heard nothing from them. They return calls or my emails for some reason. Can anyone with this turbo tell me the fittings size and where I can the lines for it cause I can't wait for turbo trader they are killing me right now..

I got the feed line, return line, and all proper fittings from Extremepsi.com....I dont know the exact sizes but I can snap a few pics to show you how mine is set up....Give me a few min and I'll post them up

The drain line is the same size as the t3/garrett drain lines.

They actually have two different fittings (BLUE fittings) I got lucky and recieved the right one. You should email them and they'll make sure you get the right one.

BTW you actually have an hx40 or h1e. The feed line fittings for both are different. The feed line fitting on my H1e was pretty tricky to find. The one on my hx40 is on extreme psi.

well, I guess there is no need for pics....I should have just linked it, oh well

The kit is kinda pricey but its simple, its clean, and it works

Bringing this up from way back in the throwbacks.

I also have a HX40 and was wondering how to feed and drain this turbo.
I am getting that drain line listed above. I'm not to sure about the feed line though. Whats different with feeding from the filter housing and not from he head. Extremepsi makes a feed kit from the head for the HX40. Why go from the filter housing and not from the head?

The reason a lot of people prefer to feed the turbo oil from the filter housing is because it is fresh, filtered oil. Where as feeding it from the head, that oil has already traveled through the engine. Just less chance of contaminated oil

Why go from the filter housing and not from the head?
You should take oil pressure measurements at the head and filter housing and compare those to the manufacturer's requirements before deciding on a source. Our head sources can give too little oil pressure for some turbos while our filter housing can supply far too much pressure for most.

Regarding the drain- read this: http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tur...turbo-users-your-oil-drain-may-too-small.html
The reason a lot of people prefer to feed the turbo oil from the filter housing is because it is cooler, higher-pressure oil. When feeding it from the head, that oil has already traveled through the engine where it gets heated and the pressure is lower after the oil has been distributed to the rest of the engine parts.
Fixed.

The oil at the head it not dirty; there's nowhere for it to get dirty. It's not like the oil at the head is scavenged directly from the pan. I had to fix that bit of misinformation.

So whats a proper drain size? I'm in the same boat you are. Good thing I live right by NX.

So justin, an fp feed line (-4an) with a -12am return line is the way to go? That is what I got from the thread you linked.

Here's a direct quote from Justin on the next to last page in this thread.;) http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/tur...turbo-users-your-oil-drain-may-too-small.html

"I think the -3AN feed from filter housing / -12AN drain combo is a perfect idea."

If you do end up getting a -10AN drain setup, at the very least you should "funnel" the top of the drain fitting so there is not such an abrupt change in hole size between the cartridge and the drain fitting....as illustrated below with before and after photos:

Someone needs to put the perfect feed/drain kit together and start a sale.

Hey so I am doing the HX40 install soon myself so using the info gathered a -4 feed line needs to be restricted so I checked out forced performance and they have an in line filter with a .125 orifice. Is this acceptable to feed the hx40 or is it way out of tolerance?

To answer this question you will need to first measure your oil pressure from wherever you are sourcing it from (i'm assuming ofh). If the pressure is too high try your filter out then remeasure. If that is still too high then you may need a restrictor, a common size to use is .100in, although some use smaller. Again depending on the pressure that is measured. Good luck!

Ok so I checked above in this thread and found the M12x1.5 Turbo Oil Feed Line Kit on ebay. This is the one mentioned before. I even looked this line up on an rx-7 forum as well as a honda forum. This is cool to run with and if so what length to oil filter housing? Forgive me guys I am doing my homework and purchasing now. I get back from Afghanistan in december:hellyeah: I just want all the right parts so I can start my work with no hang ups. Thanks in advance.:thumb:
