so I believe 2ga's came with level sensors from what I read, and I have a light on that I believe to be coolant level, my overflow tank has no sensor in it, but I think somebody put a different overflow tank in it, I found what I think might be the coolant level sensor dangling, but I am not sure because Idk what it looks like, if someone could please tell me what color the wires are, and or show a picture of the actual sensor, also is there anywhere that sells replacements??? I couldn't find any...

Any of this stuff look like part if it, I thought the plug shaped piece was to go into the bottom of the overflow reservoir? But both wires are blue.

The other thing I find strange, is I've found threads of people complaining the light was on, and it seems like most people just unplug the switch if it is bad, and the light goes out, but unless its dangling somewhere still plugged in, I have no switch, so I don't get why the light is on....

I just thought of something, could it be a dummy light for engine temp?? I know the car operates at correct temperature via the gauge, but if I recall correctly, even cars with gauges have idiot lights for when the temp gets too high? Also, I would like to replace the level sensor, do you have any idea where I can buy one or the coolant reservoir that has provisions for it for that matter? I'll see if I can find the picture I took of the exact light.

If the blue w/ yellow was touching a ground somewhere, it would throw the light on. If it is truly a bother and there isn't a sensor, pull the bulb from the dash.

Those sensors and reservoirs are obsolete. There is not a light for coolant temp on these cars.

Here is the light. I have a light that flashes on heavy throttle on left side of you have any ideas on that too, I think CEL setup in link for knock maybe, have to check and see where CEL is.

That's the windshield washer fluid reservoir light.

All other locations of warning lights and what they are can be found here in post #14: 3 dash lights???

Blargh, I just had all that crap apart too....(light was on before that). So you never did answer, do you have any idea where to get that coolant level sensor or overflow bottle with provisions for it other than a partout?? Guess I'll pull that thing out try to see if its clogged up or something...

Assuming we are still talking about the coolant level switch and overflow reservoir, a part-out is about it.

You could use that reservoir tap a hole, use some epoxy and get a new connector from the sire listed above ...ask Miller Import parts for a sensor. There you have it ...kinda alot of work. Although I would probably do it just for the sake of the restoration value kinda thing, plus I like the little stock features that cam on these cars ...like t he Mazda MX-6 and they oscilating vents .. that shit is cool to me, but thats just me.

You do know how different the two reservoirs are, right? Overall geometry and physical mounting location in the engine bay are both different. I'm pretty sure you'd lose any "restoration value" using anything other than a part that was supposed to be there. ;)

I think there are options to make something work (i.e., adapt another Mitsu vehicle switch that isn't obsolete to the '96-'99 turbo reservoir), it's all a matter of how much the OP wants that functional dash light.

Well it's not about restoration, it's about wanting to know if my coolant gets low so my engine doesn't fry....I guess I'll just keep an eye out for a car being parted out.

No I didnt know there was a difference in those parts ...... thanks for the info.:thumb:

As for the resoration value I was speaking of, it was the idea like you stated "using other Mitsubishi parts that are still available but atleast they are still Mitsubishi brand products. Not a strictly OEM parts restoration .... but thanks for clearing that up
