Just picked up this car, and I don't believe that it's leaking(haven't tested yet) but the FMIC is smashed in kinda bad on the bottom and it really bugs me. I know that bent fins can be bent back, but the whole bottom row is completely smashed in. And even the plate itself is bent a little bit. I just want to know if this is something I can fix, or if I'm going to break it(ie. cause a leak) if I try to, and welcome any suggestions on how to approach it. I could always buy a new IC, and I might even do that eventually, but I'm trying to be cheap on this car atm till my finances settle down a bit.

if its not leaking, i wouldnt f*** with it. unless you have the skills/gear to weld up aluminum.

Aesthetically, if you're concerned, you could always tack on a simple strip of aluminum at the bottom to cover.
Otherwise, pressure test it. If it checks out, don't bother fixing it unless you know somebody who can do it on the cheap. If you're not certain if it's something that can be fixed, you likely can't do it yourself anyway.

I can weld aluminum and i wouldnt fix it...if it bothers you, I'd just get a new core because that will be really tough to fix/make look good/not fucj up more. Like others have said, pressure test it, if it's good leave it, if it's bad or bothers you, get a new core. Another option could be to mount the core a few inches lower so the bumper covers it.. But if it got bent like that already you might have issues going lower
