Anybody have any experience with the EBC USR (black) series rotors? I'm wondering how well the black zinc finish holds up. What would be a good pad for these also?

Do they look like crap once the black has worn off?

Thanks. What color EBC pad is good for everyday use?

The black coating wears off the portion of the rotor that the pads contact, but all the other parts (that would normally rust) remain coated and don't rust.

That's what I'm looking for, hate the looks of the rust especially since my car is completely blacked out. Found a place that has front and rear rotors with redstuff pads for $353.00 shipped. Not a bad price.

The zinc dip definetly helps. I have a set on my Gst that are dipped and it made a huge diff. Took way longer for surface rust to even show up and it didn't start till the car was parked and I'm in Hawaii. This in the long run will help keep the Vents from rusting out and blocking passages. Once that happens things get to hot and warp. ;)

I'm by the ocean also (in California), I know what you mean about the rust. I just Plasti dipped my wheels and the rust on the rotors really stands out now.

A lot of companies offer coated rotors now. I have drilled and slotted "prime choice" rotors from eBay that are coated around the hub, edges, in the slots, etc that have been holding up great for over a year. I also just got some Wagner blanks from rock auto that also have the "e coating" on them for $17 a piece.
We used to paint the drum part of new rotors with hi temp paint before install and they usually held up well.

I see Hydra Brakes (Canada) on ebay. Don't know anything about them though.

Yeah I saw them too. I used to always stick with known brands (Wagner, raybestos, centric, etc.) But I took a chance on those prime choice d&s rotors and I must say I was very impressed with the quality. I live on a mountain and regularly beat the crap out of them, and they havent cracked yet. Unfortunately I accidentally put a nice gouge in one, hence the reason I replaced the rears with the Wagners.

I didn't see the prime choice on ebay. The only black ones for an Eclipse I could find were the Hydra Brake.

Well, I decided to save some money. Since I already have Power Stop rotors, drilled and slotted, I removed them, cleaned off the rust, painted the slots with a brush, painted the holes with a q-tip, painted the rotor edge, and painted the hats. I also painted the backing plate. I had already painted my calipers when I installed the rotors a while back. Looks a whole lot nicer!
