Wondering if anybody else is runnng this same gear lube and if so wht are your thoughts? I am about to put it in my transmission that i just put new 1-2 syncros in. Im hoping its a good cheap oil that shifts smoothe and alleviates the notchieness these cars are known for. Yes ive heard about redline, diaqueen, etc. But this stuff is only $8\quart and it got here fast! Here is a link to the oil... http://m.summitracing.com/parts/bpo-023-7729

Due to the long change intervals Ive always been fine spending a little more on proven oils. Unfortunately ive never used that particular one but just figured I would bring that up.

Lol ok thats not what i meant when i said it was cheap. Im just saying most of the gl4 rated gear lubes cost alot more. Mt90 is anywhere from $14-$20 a quart. Perhaps it would be good info for others who are on a budget and need a better shift for less coin. If i dont like the brad penn i can always switch to a different lube. Just thought it would be interesting to try a different lube and wanted to hear others opinions on it...

Never slack on getting a good gear lube for your tranny it could end up costing you a lot of money in the short run by having transmission failure. These trannies are very sensitive about the fluids you put in them. Many horror stories here on the forums.

Just got my tranny built by Raif racing (has three low 9 second mitsus) I believe he used the stock mitsu fluid in mines I will soon be changing it to Amsoil gear lube which is also supposed to be very good if not better. I won't put crap in my car just to save money especially if I don't have to change it often.

Again Im not asking if its good oil, or if it meets the standards for our transmissions. It says right on the bottle it is specially formulated for transmissions with brass syncros ( api gl-4 rated ) like the ones in our cars so i thought what the heck why not try it, as ive tried mt90, diaqueen, amsoil, and a couple others in the past on some of my other dsms. I understand that most of you have never used this oil let alone even heard of it, however that does make it a crap product. Sorry but if you have never used this oil please do not post your opinion on it. Im only asking for peoples experience with it. I know for a fact it will work in our cars ive spent literally weeks researchimg gear oils but never seen this one so i just wanted to hear from others who have or are currently using this oil and if i like it then cool now i know about a good\cheap gear lube thats properly rated for our cars. alot of the time im just putting together stock 1g cars that dont need the most expensive fluid in the world becuase alot of the time im selling them after they are done and ready to be dailyed. Thanks.

Thats what I heard about their engine oil and i saw this is a true gl-4 rated lube and figured hey why not? So I filled her up with the brad penn classic gl-4 gear oil and I have to say this, WOW. Ultra smoothe shifts into every gear, even when downshifting quickly into 1 at low speeds. I took it for a good 40 minute drive to get the lube at operating temp and the longer I drove the smoother the shifting became. It will take about 2000 miles give or take before the brad penn oil is fully broken into the trans in which case the oil will have built up a nice film layer on the internals further improving shift quality and longevity. Ill keep running this oil in this car, at this point I see no reason not to. So id say it was a success. I might write a little review in here on this stuff just for others who may be interested in trying it out as well, after all this forum is a knowledge based community. Happy boosting people.

I would have no problem running anything Brad Penn makes. Great to hear that it's going well for you. Keep us updated when it's time to change it and how it held up. I personally only run Brad Penn motor oil in my 2g.

thanks for the input. I took it out again for a little ride thru the neiborhood and yep im really happy with the shifting. I think ill try their motor oil next change.

Nice bro brad Penn oil is amazing stuff. I usually run Mitsu diaqueen in all mine. But I may source this for my gst when it's done and try it out. :) that's if I can get to Hawaii easy and doesn't cost me a arm and leg LOL.

You cant go wrong with this stuff, but hey i like ur cars man! They must really be something special down there where your at.
