yea so my cars got like 100,000 miles on it, what are some good plugs to be using? i was thinkin bosh 4s but someone told me they would be bad for my car..
 
Think he said he just did oil change n it has. The 20w40 or 50 I'm it is it gonna cause problem where it's cold here In va

The oil question is best answered, yes use oil of some sort and change it every 3000 miles.
I've seen people on this site using every band type and weight of oil
No one oil will be right for this engine more a factor of the condition and age of the engine and how much you abuse or don't abuse the car
FWIW I use either 10/30 or 10/40 conventional "high mileage" formulation whatever's reasonably priced at Walmart. Then again I use my very lightly modded car as a daily commuter.

It's my first turbo car n I love it it's quick lil to quick but I'm new I will get use to it LOL. It has 20g front mount intercooler 255 fuel pump 3 inch exhaust electronic greddy boost controller n tubular header. It's fun car LOL whole lot faster than my jeep wrangler
 
Ngk all the way get some br7s and gap to .028. ;)

I wouldn't goto non projected plugs on a 20g at 15psi. I'd stay with the BPR7ES.

Also what type an weight oil should I be using. Guy i got it from said he used Rotella 20w40 or 20w50. Is that correct oil

Lots of people run rotella T 15W40 non synthetic. It's a good oil for a mid level car. I run it in mine, and I seem to have good bearing and turbo life. If you were farther north I'd suggest 10W30 rottella, but mine starts well on 15W40 in the winter here, so I'm sure you'll be fine.
 
Id stay away from high mileage blends till you know for sure that your seals are worn & you're burning oil. High mileage oils chemically swell the rubber in the seals & will wear to match the fitment. Once you've done this you're stuck with always having to use it. If you're seals weren't worn before they will be.
 
They worked great with my 16g setup at 20psi. The br' are non protruding electrode plugs and the dpr's are the protruding electrode. But either will do honestly I actually just forgot to add the Es so my bad ;) thx for correcting bast

I use synthetic Rotella, it's an excellent oil and the best part, it's cheap. In cold weather I would recommend giving the motor a few extra minutes on cold starts to let the thick oil warm up good. BPR6ES should be a good plug as well. If you do get projected plugs, definitely gap them a bit smaller than stock so you don't cause blow out once you turn the boost up.
By the way, SEARCH because these subjects have been beaten to death.
 
Ya I mainly ran them for my track days. They helped keep knock counts down and let me run more timing. I was also running 100 oct and 20-21 timing. Was working really well till my stupid balance shaft belt shredded and took out the motor. I agree stock daily should use the bpr7es.
 
Iridium has the highest resistance to corrosion of any metal. That's the only advantage.
It isn't a catalyst like platinum. I've really never found corrosion on an electrode to be a big problem. So I have to conclude using iridium spark plugs are 1 a waste of money, and 2 a waste of a super rare element that might be better used for something else.

Iridium plugs saved me a few hundred dollars. With coppers gapped to .018" I had ignition issues over 37-38psi with stock ignition. The iridiums gapped the same allow me to run 40+psi with the same ignition system.
 
Another vote for the ngk bpr7es here. Basic copper with .028 gap.

I also used the ngk coppers on my old mazdaspeed protege as well. Tried protruded plugs, iridium plugs but always went back to the coppers.

As for oils, I used mobile1 synthetic exclusively in all my cars since 2003 until about a month ago. I just put the rotella t6 10w 40 in my is300 and it seems to really like it. I will be putting it into my 2g talon on its next oil change. I only use oem oil filters as well.

lots of conflicting opinions
at the risk of repeating again, generally speaking most fine success with bpr6es for stock, bpr7es for ~20psi, then some try br7es to try and control knock. whether it actually works, i dont know if there is solid evidence. gap according to lb/min and compression ratio.

i myself am am br7es and 0.028, 20-23psi, 36lb/min on 7.8:1
 
Another option for a little hotter is br8es, my favorite on pump gas and 50lbs/min.

Can also run the ngk iridium's, br7eix
 
NGK BR8ES @ .018 for Hi boost.
