They've been around the DSM world long enough that I would have no doubts about their tuning capabilities. How is this thread advanced tech?

its not that the thread is about a advanced tech question itself, but more on the lines of who can do the advanced tech ie (tune) for anyone that needs one in the balti/dc area

Considering that you dont have much to tune or to tune with, they can take care of it in no time. They have been around quite some time and know dsm's in and out.

No, they didnt tune my car. I do my own tuning on a local dyno.

i would go to extreme motorsports. i have been to machv and i personally wont go back if you want to ask questions ask but i will not bash a company on the forums i will however send it to you in a pm if you have any questions.

Alteredatmosphere is the only tuner that evered dynoed and tuned my 3000gt VR4. Mike(the owner) does the tuning himself. They have been on several tuner tv shows. I have never had my Talon there because I moved to Ga. before it got put together. The 3000gt/Stealth use all the same piggyback cpu's and standalone equipment.

Machv.com does no tuning. They are housed in the same building as Ultimate Performance and if you take your car to MachV for tuning it will be tuned by Jason Hunt who works for Ultimate Performance.

If you don't know who Jason is you can read up; he is more than competent.

On the other hand...Extreme Motorsports is closer to you and will also be able to tune your car without issue.

I would absolutely not recommend Ultimate Performance in Sterling. They're unscrupulous idiots. They literally destroyed my TSi. I took it to them to have a new turbo installed and tune the car. Not only did they destroy my turbo (after having charged me $1500 for the installation) but also were stupid enough to leave my intercooler and piping in my car unlocked in their parking lot and I wound up having my car stripped of everything. After having paid those jerks over $5k in custom work, all I got back was a shell of a car with a stripped engine and missing all my engine management equipment and they had the balls to try and charge me for cleaning my injectors (the only part of the engine that didn't get stolen). I'm in the process of suing them for the loss.

Jason might be competent.... but they couldnt fix the problem that i had and my car over heated 3 times coming home from there.... didnt idle right and other problems.... plus they seemed really arrogant like i didnt know what was done to my car and they know everything....and they also couldnt figure out how to operate my boost controler considering the fact machv sells them they should have been able to read it.... i also agree ultimate performance in sterling va is a joke.

Go to Extreme Motorsports. They know how to tune a DSM. Don't forget, they had the first Talon in the 8's. Very nice people to deal with.

as soon as i get dsmlink I am going to extreme, already purchased my laptop, just need the eprom ecu and the software, if anyone knows anyone that is selling, please let me know ASAP!!!

You can get the sofware and everything from Extreme or DSMLink. They are both in MD.

Altered Atmosphere is uber expensive compared to extreme. If i were you i would take my car to extreme its where i go and all my friends go lots of veterans there who know what there doing.

Jason hunt knows how to tune a honda but i wouldn't take a DSM to him to tune.

Extreme is hit or miss.. i've seen them do good jobs and i've seen them do slackass jobs.

Altered.. the one person i knew that worked there and did tuning doesn't work there any more, so not much i can say about them really.

If you want your car tuned FOR you, i would recommend Extreme since they are close by, and hope they aren't feeling like slack-asses when they do your car.

If you want to come further south, there is a dynojet in woodbridge and one in Fredericksburg, neither of whom tune DSMs, so you'd have to bring your own tuner. I am friends with the latter of the two shops (in fredericksburg) and do tuning by private hire for DSMs on that dyno (the techs that work there are all honda guys, and prefer to pass off the DSM stuff)

Bringing back an old link. Need some tuning or just trouble shooting on my car. Ultimate Performance is closed and the websites for both Alted Atmosphere and Extreme Motorsports are down.

Anyone know of any other tuning shops around DC?

Dave Katz at EFI Specialties is a good tuner and he's over in Stafford.

Just saw on MachV's website that they do alignments, tuning, and maintenance so that's probably where I'll start. Still not sure if they do engine work, but I'll call in the morning.
