The car is a 96tsi. The cas is bad. I have a 1g black top cas which I'm going to install as per RRE/ Magnus directions. I have two questions:
I have a spare 97 ecu I was going to use so I don't have to switch pins in the 96 ecu, so now it will be a 1g CAS in a 2ga with a 2gb ECU. As far as I can tell the instructions for making a wiring harness are the same for 2ga and 2gb, is that correct?
Also, if I'm using the 2gb ecu I don't need to swap plug wires, correct?

Confirmed. I just did a Blacktop CAS install into a 2Ga talon while running a 98-99 blackbox ECU. No wire swapping needed. Should fire right up, but your going to have to set the timing. My timing was initally -5* and it caused my turbo to spool like crazy. All good now!

Let me jump in on this since the op question was already answered maybe someone can help me finish my 6 bolt swap.

Where the hell do I wire this white wire to the cam sensor at!?? Crank sensor is plug and play. And please don't link me to Magnus I've looked and it shows a blue wire but where is it exactly??

How early where you seeing it spool?
Really early, somewhere around 1500K. It was mostly just made noise though because the timing was so retarded (should be +5*s, mine was -5*s) there wasn't any power associated with it. I have a hill near my house that I couldn't get up because the car was making so little power.

I was just testing my CAS and CPS. The Blue/Red Wire (Pin 2) is the signal wire, I would imagine that's the one you would splice.

I made my own harness by just clipping the plugs on the old cam and crank sensors and splicing them to I believe what was a tps plug.
It was so cold out I just popped the rubber plug on the 2ga head out with a screwdriver and popped the cas on in the same position as the head I pulled it from, strapped the 2gb ecu in with a bungee cord and fired her up. Been driving that way for a week so I assume my timing's good :D
