I understand that many people say to just buy a gst/gsx but I actually want to build it because I wish to learn and say that I built the car myself. I have a 99 eclipse rs with a blown engine and a 98 gst spyder. The spyder is in horrible shape but the engine is still good. The Rs is very clean as depicted in the picture,I want to do a 4g63 swap in the the Rs that has the 420a. I understand it's a difficult swap that will take time but I want to do it because I have the car and engine. I need help on what other materials I need to buy like motor mounts etc. And or what has to be manufactured anything helps. And also if it's easier to tear out the wiring harness or buy a new one. Thank you

There have been a couple documented here and DSM talk. Do some Google searching and you will find them. Basically you need to swap where the engine mounts to the chassis. That's the hard part because it has to be dead on.

The wiring harness... Good luck buying a brand new oem one. It will be more cost effective to use what you already have.

So would it take a couple of welding and new mounts or how would the situation go?

It has been done before but you are talking about basically cutting off the front end frame of one car and placing it on the other. Basically turning the frame into a GST. Maybe a better swap would be to look for a 2000 or so with the 4g64. (like a galant) At least the motor mounts are on the correct side and possibly even mount up.

Or talk with this guy thats doing an evo swap. http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/1995-eagle-talon-esi-evo-8-swap.475267/

I have debated on the same thing as you before because a couple times I have found a very clean rust free 420a car and been tempted.

What wiring harness do you have at the moment? Is it Auto or Manual transmission?
