I replaced my factory coil pack with a coil on plug setup.

My question is does the PTU need to be grounded to the firewall? I've owned this car for 5 years maybe driven it 30 miles. Can't ever seem to get it to run right.

My AFPR won't adjust, can't seem to get my IAC to stabilize at 30 to 40 at idle, and now the car won't start and backfires. Currently redoing the timing on the car to see if that will fix the problem but thinking it may be something electrical. Even when the car was running decent it would die when coming to a stop.

On the verge of cutting my loses and selling. Rebuilt motor stock, DSMLink, 16g externally gated, 2g MAF, stock head, Wally 255, very very minimal boost leaks, oversized TB, new IAC, 1g dodge mod BOV, no CELs.

The power transistor's stock location is attached to the block near the intake manifold on the front of the engine (that is, the belt side).
It grounds through multiple wires into the harness, and whatever it's connected to, sort of.
Honestly, it doesn't matter where it's attached. Moving it to the firewall will not fix anything. However, the problem may lie in the connectors or the wires themselves if it's not a problem with the COP setup. COP isn't so plug-and-play..

I found it odd at one point in time the car ran decent, and I was working some minor bugs out. Now it doesn't even want to start backfires and runs super rich if it does start.

The fpr that is on the car is a Aeromotive A1000. Stock fuel line to filter, from filter to fuel rail -8 an , from fuel rail to regulator -8 an, then return line on bottom of regulator to stock return fuel line. Base timing before taking the timing belt off was around 5 degrees btc but would fluxuate between that and 7 degrees even when grounded.

So you've tried adjusting your afpr and it won't? If so it's possible you have a bad diaphragm.

Past that it seems like it's routed correctly. You should also double check all your grounds in the bad and that you can find inside the cabin. Been seeing alot of issues that deal with poor grounds lately.

I just fixed my gauges today, they were fluctuating when on, individually grounded them (instead of a single large gauge ground) and no more fluctuations.

I replaced the engine wiring harness a while back....maybe checking grounds is something I should check into. Ive heard if the vacuum port is in to tight the afpr wont adjust so tried that nothing happened. Also heard if your return line to tank is too small it will not adjust dont know if its true or not. May tear the top off that aeromotive and see if there is any crud inside there.
