I am trying to buy an punishment racing 02housing but I dont know what is better. Should I go recirculated or dump? If you have one for sale let me know too. Im also looking for an 38mm tial wastegate. PLM thanks

Depends on what you want. Do you want a loud, obnoxious exhaust when full boost? Do you plan to stay internal gated? If you plan to upgrade your turbo later, I would go external/recirculated, but that's just me. . .

Well I'm running open wastegate and it was cool for the first 800 miles or so. As of now I'm keeping it though because it hinders me from street racing. I would think dumping your 02 would give similar results ie. LOUD. So if you are drag racing, dump externally...if you are driving around town, you probably want to go internal.

PM me if you are interested in an 02 housing, though.

Unless you drive more on the track than on the street, stay with the recirculated setup. You can run the external setup but it'll be loud as heck with atmospheric dump.

There are also a few threads in the how to's that explain what style of wastegate would work best for you, etc. I apologize, I would have found them but I am running late this morning and I am trolling on my phone. ;)

With external dump you get a bit better boost control and more room for the exhaust to breath up top.

With internal you are cramming that exhaust back into the other exhaust making it breath less up top.

Now if your running a turbo bigger than a evo316g then go external anything smaller i would recirculate.

no emissions in my town so o2 dumping isnt a problem[/url]

True. If you don't have emissions...really isn't any reason to dump internally - performance wise. Just no street racing. But you need to decide where you want to dump from and what turbo setup you will run. You can do the research, but just to give you ideas you can dump from:

1) exhaust manifold - some people use the #1 runner, some use the collector. Both ways are proven, however there is controversy with using #1. This is how mine is setup. You need to weld your internal flapper shut to run this setup - external wastegate

2) o2 housing - recommend this. Punishment has an o2 that you can mount your external wastegate on (and dump internally or externally). Remove the flapper from your turbo and put this bad boy on - external wastegate

3) o2 housing - an o2 housing with an external dump for the wastegate - internal wastegate

Crap, I didn't leave you anything to research :ohdamn:

Also if you have everything in your engine bay the external could damage something if not placed in the correct location.

daumm that 2g with the external dump sounded pretty good. I think Im go with the external dump setup just because it puts less stress on my engine during top end. Thanks.

open dump all the way. I love flooring it past people and watching them jump ROFLROFL:thumb:. I dd mine and I loooooooovee it sounds awesome

My punishment racing open dump O2 housing dumped out right on top of my short route intercooler piping . Hated it . It was loud and I seemed to shift as soon as it came on full boost . Recirculated !! That my 2 cents.
