I was just browsing craiglists car's looking for a part out and a 700 dollar 2g caught my eye that was still running. I was looking for a doner part car in that range and found a fully functioning one. So of course I bought it, and let the restore begin.

Cons: Well known problems, has rough Idle, Check engine light due to EGR, 1 donut tire, no window regulator or motor on drivers side, bad MAP, bad manifold temp sensor, checked the coolant there seems to be water in it LOL mwahaha.

Pros: Has oz rally edition rims, those with tires alone sell for 500 on ebay. not a single dent not even hail, impressed. Mostly complete I honestly didn't notice any missing parts except the window button on passenger side, It might just be dipped in haven't looked.

Pics coming next post. Overall I'm very happy with purchase drove it 1 hour home, didn't die on me, cleaned the MAP when I got home, now it wont idle. Ordered new map from Autozone will arrive tomorrow morning will update restore then.

Alright fixed the Idle with an EGR valve swap and then resetting the IAC by plugging it out and plugging it in, after I fixed it the car Idled at like 3K rpm but it wasn't rough, called my cousin who is a mechanic he said unplug and plug back in don't touch battery, and his trick worked. Idles at 700 RPM. Here is what it looked like.

Have a buddy who works at a glass shop, he put my window in for me, 50 bucks, got him a new motor and rails. Old stuff was all junk. I think he let water get to it, even the switch was bad, rails were rusting. Also bought a single tire off ebay that matched the brand of these tires and the tread for 28 dollars. Got that replaced.

Then I had to get working on the wheels, they're OZ rally but they started chipping, so not presentable.

Then I was like f*** the body, I sanded down the trouble spots and primed the bastard.

When will the weather heat up so I can finish this baby? it's like 34 in Columbia MO right now, and I hate it.

Outside still looks crappy, cleaning up the engine compartment, it was a mess, I think it had a bad gasket as some point and it just bleed oil all over the place, I don't see any new oil. Nothing a little brake cleaner and engine degreeser can't help. I might paint the valve cover red too, make it look like someone loved the car this whole time.

Was able to paint the valve cover while it rained at least. Got the engine all cleaned up too, it's starting to come together.

Got all the goo from the left over adhesive taken off, it was from masking the car, holy crap it took 4 hours to do that, and clean the mirrors and lights afterwards. Mostly my fault I let it stay on there way too long, since I could never find time to paint. Ive been at work to much so I painted an hour here an hour there. It was annoying. I also bought this cheap belt cleaner and tried to get this squeak out of the belts, and it got 2392932930239 times worst. I'll try wd 40 tomorrow can't hurt right?

Be careful. WD-40 could make the belt slip off since it is a lubricant. When my alternator belt was going bad one thing that helped the sound was take a dry bar of soap and rub the side of the belt that contacts the wheel, typically the one with the grooves on it. It is not a perfect fix and will not get rid of the sound completely but it definitely made it better.

Awesome, good advice man, ill try it out on wednesday, that's my next day I can play with it.

All done and ready to post for sale, just have to finish painting the other two wheels when it gets nicer outside.

Sold it today, hate to see them go but it was NA and auto LOL, but at least its another DSM out on the streets, hate to see those things get crushed or parted.

2400 so net gain of 1200, still needs a little bit of work, not trying to rip anyone off.

Sigh, currently DSM-less, looking for a nice 2g, or 2g spyder in the 2000 range, if anyone has one, willing to travel to get it.

And I got one! New restore build coming soon! May keep this one.
