So today, my seibon carbon fiber hood decided to say hi to me by coming up and smashing my windshield LOL. Luckily, I have a full coverage and already have someone coming to install a new windshield, but my hood is cracked and chipped. I will be talking to my insurance agent tomorrow, hopefully, about replacing the hood as well. I was thinking about going back to seibon or is there a better brand for around the same price. At seibon website the oem carbon hood is $700 plus shipping and it's the one I had. Any suggestions which is better would be great. Thanks

URGH that happened to me about a year ago but it didn't shatter my windshield. I forgot to lock my hood pins...

I have a vis oem style hood. Fitment is alright. Definitely not oem fitment. I was always under the impression that seibon was the best quality.

No bueno. Happaned to me in a civic years ago. Def. scary and lucky I was going only 30MPH. I would find a cheap junkyard OEM replacement and repaint the whole front end. Just an idea.

Yes, definitely scary, and I had two cars behind me when it happen. I'm gonna see what insurance does as I have a zero dollar deductible. I will be repainting the whole car when I'm done with nursing school. It will be a gift to myself, and I redoing everything body-wise like a complete restore.

Update: They are replacing the hood with another Seibon oem style, replacing the windshield cowl vent trim, touching up the fenders where it was chipped, and windshield by next week. About $1700 plus the cost of the windshield from another company. Gotta love State Farm's comphensive plan with a $0 dollar deductible.

How did they get a new cowl! They are discontinued but i want one too! How haha

Did they just ask what hood you had and said they would replace it with the same one?
I to have state farm, hit 2 deer in six months, didn't cost a penny either time, gotta love that!

I made sure to tell them I wanted a Seibon hood not another carbon fiber one from a different company. Also, gave them Seibon's website, and they ordered it.

In for info on new cowl....

I found a website that appears to have them and was able to buy one. However, I won't know until tomorrow when they are open to be sure. That's also where I told the shop to order one. So if they actually sell them I'll let everyone know, but don't wanna get any false hope up just to get refunded the money.

Yeah, a new cowl would be nice to find. I asked JNZtuning about one of those a couple years ago and was told nope! No longer being made.

That's quite nice the insurance is replacing it. Seeing as it's an "off road use only" part from the manufacturer. Doubt any insurance in Canada would replace it, they'd say sol, you weren't legal to have it in the first place. Haven't heard of one case where parts like that would be replaced by the insurance, here at least.

Update: mistubishipartswarehouse.com is not a warehouse full of parts I was hoping it would be, instead it's a dealership. So no cowl pieces . I was hoping it was a warehouse full of nos parts.

Either way, my piece is fine besides a small dent from the hood. I can live with that and the car should be done mid-week.

I hope you're putting hood pins on it this time. I run a Seibon hood and would not trust the fiberglass latch portion for a second! Otherwise, they are fine in terms of fitment and quality.

Yes I definitely plan on buying some hood pins. Is there a certain brand that is recommended?

Aerocatch hood pins. They are a nice style and they lock with a key. Can be found on ebay as well

Just search them, and they look like great pins with great reviews. Amazon has them for the same price as ebay but with 2-day shipping with prime. Now are the carbon fiber ones nice or would black be better?

Of course personal preference is key. I guess I should have stated that I read the carbon fiber looks kinda cheap and dull compared to a shiny carbon fiber hood. I want to know if anyone had the carbon fiber ones and if it matches or looks out of place. I've seen the black ones on a carbon fiber and it does look good. Thanks for recommendation on the pins, I do appreciate it.
