Hey everyone, just bought a 20g turbo off of a local he's a member on tuners with a good trade rep. He said it's a slowboy 20g that blew on him cause the shop that was working on the car didn't tighten down the oil feed line. He had it rebuilt by Superior Turbo and Injection in Detroit and hasn't reinstalled it because he got a sweet deal on a borg warner S256 ET. He said it has no cracks and is in excellent shape. I paid just over 400 for the turbo. He said he paid 430 for parts + the rebuild. He said it logged 40 lb/min on 22psi with link. Can anyone tell me a little bit more about what they think it is exactly? I think I know it's at least a tdo6h 20g. Thanks a ton! -Rob

6h turbine with 20g wheel. what fp used to sell as street strip 20g. people have logged 49lbs on them at 29psi. would be a nice turbo to upgrade with kts 7 blade 20g for another 3-4 pounds max flow.

the slowboy part is that weird rare bolt in turbo housing. I think only slowboy sold those?

It's a full SBR turbo. They commonly re-purposed some of the bolt-down style Garrett turbine housings to fit MHI turbos...I've seen maybe a half-dozen similar to this over the years.

Definitely a good candidate for a compressor upgrade as mentioned above as I'm not sure a 20G compressor needs as much turbine flow as a TD06H turbine in a 7cm2 housing would provide for most of the population- would favor a stroker, or tolerate higher boost on 2.0L with a poor-quality fuel than an 05H 20G would.

I can tell by how the turbo sits in the bearing housing that it's not going to line up with an OEM oil drain too well if that's what you plan to use. Loosen the pinch bolts and rotate the turbo downward once it's on the car to correct this, then tighten the pinch bolts again and adjust the compressor cover last to fit your intercooler piping.

I was thinking about getting -an oil return fittings and some braided stainless high temp hose from STM for the oil return as I HATE the stock oil return lines and mine is crusto Sanchez already. I may still rotate the compressor housing to fit my fmic piping better though thanks for the tip! Just unbolt all those pinch bolts around bolted into the hotside and it will spin freely?

Ughhh I guess I'll grab a new one. I thought I saw on stm that oem ones new were like $100. F that. $13.99 is right up my alley. What do you recommend for oil feed line and what exactly do I need to run one. I have a 1990 OFH (1990 GSX)

So I have now purchased a FP Race manifold, 38mm 2bolt style Tial WG and a friend is fabbing up an old external dump o2 housing to fit the Tial with its own dump off the o2. Problem is the turbo hotside being plugged up really well like it is. My friend tried to get it into his mill at work but is having issues. He asked about possibly getting a different hotside that is open, and someone said this would be a good candidate for a hotside upgrade. If so, what hotside upgrade do you recommend Justin and where would be the best place to get one? Td05? Do I then need a td05 wheel and shaft? Anyone interested in this like new hotside? And should I do something different with the compressor cover/wheel? I want this thing to pop as its going to be a street car. This is going on a stock block GSX with link v3 full and 1000cc pte's with all supporting mods. Brand new modded 2g oil drain and 1g oil feed with new hardware. All arp turbo and o2 bolts.
