I have probably less than half the knowledge of some people on here, but I'd like to get a build thread going for my VR4. It's not going to be anything special but I'd like to keep a log to keep track of my progress and to look back at my progress.

Little back story on the car, ever since Turbo Tom bought his Galant VR4 I was in love with the cars. I really didn't have any idea they existed before I saw his videos. So after a little searching I found one for sale down in Asheville, NC. My girlfriend and I took a long weekend and rode down there to pick it up. BTW Asheville is a great town, it's a little hipster but they have tons of awesome microbreweries. Here's the original add http://www.galantvr4.org/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Board=UBB12&Number=1175342&page=5&fpart=1

The previous owner was an engineer who owned the car for 13 years. He kept very organized receipts and very detailed records of the car. I've honestly never bought a car that was documented to this level before. He gave me several folders receipts and notes about the modifications he did. He also had pictures and specs on the transmission rebuild. I felt comfortable with what I was getting and very confident with the purchase. The mod list in his add is still accurate and I've only added ECMLink v3Full and tuned it on Speed Density.

My goal for this car is a fun daily using mostly OEM and period correct aftermarket parts. There will be a few exceptions, but that's the general theme I'm going for.

The short list for the car is:
1. Get the cyclone intake functional
2. Replace rotted vacuum lines
3. Replace the leaking Turbo XS BOV with an NGR I have laying around
4. Turn the factory BCS into an electronic boost controller
5. Install Walbro 255lph fuel pump and rewire kit
6. Redo exhaust, my cat is shot and some welds aren't the prettiest
7. Eliminate boost leaks
8. Tune

On to some pic

Went to install my Walbro 255 today. Good news is inside the tank looks prestine. Bad news is the pump hanger outside the tank is rusted pretty bad. I'll have to fix the rust another day, the feed line is still strong so I'm not worried about leaks just yet. But it will need attention.

For GVR4s, they say to cut the flared end of the hanger and run a fuel line between the pump and hanger. I couldn't bring myself to hack up my hanger, so I just pushed the o-ring supplied in the kit into the flare and used a smaller isolator at the bottom. It seemed to fit and make a decent seal so I'll see how it holds up. If it causes problems I'll break out the dremel.
