So I'm going to start the mod process for my 98 eclipse GS and I'm pretty sure I'm going to start with a new ignition coil with some new cooler running spark plugs

Or

Anyone know for sure which would be better? Price isn't an issue. Also can anyone tell me for sure if the stock motor for a 98 GS is the 420a or the 4G63 I've tried looking it up and haven't found a clear yes and no as to which it is. As for the ignition coil should I also upgrade the ignition harness? Or is that not needed? I'm also looking to redo the fuel system and make it an electric one so any good advice on which parts to get and where from will be appreciated. When I got the car all the wiring in it was a mess the people who had it before me had under glow which I had to rip out because of bakersfield laws (don't want my car impounded for lights) and I was wondering where I should go from there. Eventually I want to get my car turbo ready so I know I have a long ways to go. The mods it came with are custom exhaust, CAI, GREDDY headers and some suspension support bars under the car that do not look stock so any information will be helpful and I've been reading a lot of posts here and noticed a lot of people abbreviating which is fine but some of it just flies over my head but otherwise any help is welcome. I'll get some more pics and upload soon thanks again

Hi I have recently bought a 99 GS and they come with a 420A. I was initially wanting to do a 4g63 swap, but most are saying that it would be cheaper and easier to just sell the 99 GS and buy a GST or GSX. Because for the 4g63 you would have to put in a lot of money and wrench time in. Hope I helped.

use the $1,00-1,500 you'd spend making your 420gs a 4g63t, on something else. not worth the time/effort, even with a donor 4g63.

Honestly, do the maintenance, clean up previous owners mess, make it look nice and sell it.. use the money towards a daily driver.. then buy a 1g/2g turbo dsm you can mod.

before you mod your 420a- buy these parts
tbelt,serpentine,harmonic balancer,oil filter,fuel filter, ngk plugs,

cooler plugs is a waste imo just get MSG wires and call it a day.
buy upper front/rear strut bars (sounds like there's already some parts buy remaining items)
short throw shifter

thats about $500 in parts all together

Everyone is right when they say converting the 420A to a turbo is not worth the time and money involved. FYI the 420A is a Chrysler engine which all USA 2g DSM's have (Europe DSM's have 4g63 both turbo and NT).

Clean up the car and make it run as well as possible and by something with a 4G63T Mitsubishi motor no Chrysler junk.
