I recently got 7 bolt short block for free from my friend but it need to be overhaul. Should I clean them up and sell it to buy 6 bolt or keep it? Just need your simple opinion.

Okay cool. I have no problem to keep it, you know people give more compliments on 6 bolt and when find out about 7 bolt, first thing come in mind and say it junk. I guess, who care of what they say about it.No bro, don't slap your friend in the face by doing that, second chances are there's less ware on a 7 compared to 6. Third is free. Lastly if will be cheaper to build, since it's free and you can throw nice internals in there. My opinion I have many motors and many years and if It was me that's what I would do.
It kind of part of the deal when I got the GSX shell from him. I trade my 2002 Kawasaki 600zr for GSX shell and $500 then I saw the 7 bolt short block in his garage and ask him if he can give it to me. He just say yeah I can keep it but need to be overhaul. I forgot to make Dsm profile for my GSX and will do that later.7 bolt were more likely to suffer from crank walk. But any motor any amount of bolts can suffer from crank walk. If you build the block correctly and measure the bearings correctly and keep on top of your oil changes you should have no problem.
I'd keep it and build it. That's a nice score to get one for free. I wish my friend would give me a block for free
That what I'm doing to my GSX, since I have daily gs-t with evo3 turbo setup. I want to go hard on my GSX with maybe holset hx40 setup or around there. Next thing I'm doing to my GSX is getting a 6 point moly roll cage for good price. Man I wish I can upload my GSX for dsm profile but it say my picture is too large to upload on my cell.Sounds like this could be the start of a drag racing powerhouse. If I had a gsx shell and a short block laying around I would build that sucker for the track. Man you are giving me ideas now. My current build is done. Forged internals with the 68hta. Would be nice to build another strictly for the track tho.
That's awesome man. I have a GST now but I would love a GSX platform to put some serious power down. Holsets are good turbos, cheap and reliable. The guy who was supposed to build my car reccomended a holset but I did the build myself and stuck with the 68hta. Just need to get it dyno tuned now. That what I'm doing to my GSX, since I have daily gs-t with evo3 turbo setup. I want to go hard on my GSX with maybe holset hx40 setup or around there. I am not. I'm using the stock maf and ecuflash. I have been looking into speed density but I'm not too savy on that as yet. My tuner is pretty familiar with flashing the 98/99 ecu so I'm hoping to learn a few things from him. You are using link?68hta is still a sick turbo . Are u using dsmlink?
