Timing service was done at 100k at a mitsu dealer. Haven't even thought of testing compression car runs awesome. Also yes there are Ebay parts there the turbo is a knock off 16g

Do yourself favor and don't use that turbo. Knockoff turbos are junk 99.9% of the time, and it's not worth ruining your motor. Search ebay turbos and read for yourself. The intercooler will be alright, but the manifold may end up cracking on you.

You have a beautiful car, and quite of few good quality products to let some junk ruin it for you.

Given the age, possibly consider a timing service if it hasn't been completed within the last couple of years regardless of mileage. Age is a factor as well. I may also recommend changing out your trans, transfer case, and rear diff fluids. This site is loaded with great information for your newly acquired DSM. Many old timers definitely recommend maintenance items be taken care of before modifying. Make sure to do your homework before installing parts to make sure you have what you need to get the most out of your car. Such an example would be the fuel and tuning modifications to run your new turbo.

You have a nice looking ride, and want to offer advice to help ensure you enjoy ownership. Perhaps you will consider creating a profile for the car as well.

Thanks for all the advice guys! Being new to the DSM world has its drawbacks. My other car is a turbo saturn which is a dime a dozen everytime something goes wrong it's just a stones throw away and a couple bucks to basically start from scratch. Im goong to need to get out of that mentality if I plan on keeping this car that's for sure. I'll check the service history and see how long it's been since that belt replacement. As for the turbo I guess I'm out a couple hundred bucks for my own stupidity and cheapness.

You may be able to return it, which most here would strongly recommend.

I would slow down. I speak from 25 years here. Enjoy the car a bit, learn, plan, then modify. Maintenance first. I bought a one owner 52k miles car in 2011 and I still did a ton of maintenance before I did even one mod. I have an advantage though as this one is number nine for me. I wouldnt even consider any of that ebay stuff even the intercooler.

While this is true, however, some ebay intercoolers are the same as our vendors intercoolers (punishment racing and vrsf) just depends on the knockoff brand. Some just have bad clamps and couplers.

So I tried to see if that intercooler kit would even work today just for shits and giggles. Got the bumper and front crash bar out. The kits f***ing garbage of course but then again that's what I get for trying to save like 80 bucks. So as of right now just ganna save up and buy the right parts now and enjoy the car as it is. Things an absolute blast!!

Hey so quick question my radios been inop since I bought the car. The previous owner says it worked even had a tape deck aux player in it. When I try and turn the radio on nothing happens. The clock works but I get no radio functions. Pressing the power button does absolutely nothing just have that ominous time starring back at me. Any ideas? I'm assuming the radio itself or the power button has failed internally

Normally Id go the aftermarket radio route but I really love the stock look of the factory radio in there and wanted to retain it. I'm 99% sure it's the radio itself did some googling and didn't see this as a common issue didn't known of anyone had fun into this issue before I shell out for a used radio

So figured I'd give a quick update I've taken the advice everyone offered me and dumped most of the egay stuff and am just enjoying the car stock until I save up to do it right. Well that was until about a week ago when my head started puking oil. So I figured I'd take this as a great opportunity to get acquainted with the 4g63 since I've never worked in this engine platform before. Pics to follow

I'm really hoping you guys can point in the right direction my timing belt kit came with this timing belt idler yet the one I took off is clearly different (the middle) its the same diameter and depth but obviously the bolt is not going to work being that it's way too long. Am I just supposed to pick up a different bolt or is it the wrong timing kit. Every picture I googled had the idler with the recess in it yet the one I took off didn't.

First picture is a 6 bolt second picture is a 7 bolt for reference:

Is there a lip on the new pulley that doesn't match that holds the belt on the pulley?? I don't have balance shafts but the pulley for the balance shaft belt has a lip on it so the belt doesn't slip forward and off.

I just ended up using a shorter bolt I had with blue locktight not sure why that pulley was different. All the pictures and searching I did everyone had the pulley with the recess in it and I couldn't find the one I took off anywhere it was a koyo bearing

Who manufactured your timing belt and hydraulic tensioner? I assume by "kit", that means neither are OEM.
If not OEM, any reason why you are using so many gray brands after waiting for a clean car this long? Sounds like you would be setting yourself for disappointment and disaster.

and ive never seen a pressure plate that rusted that wasnt sitting in a junkyard for years.. wow. definitely was due for a change.
