After about 12,000+ uses (2 twice a day since 1999) my drivers door handle decided it had enough and quit its job. The door was really frozen this morning and wouldn't open causing the handle to start retirement. Now I have to open the passenger door to open the drivers door.

The problem I am facing now is which route do I take to repair this? Do I just replace the handle with OEM? Is there another solution out there? I was thinking of pop out doors. Would those have enough force to pop open when it gets really cold and icy?

Thanks guys.

I'd just replace, there is an elaborate kit out there that provides a metal reinforcement, but I'm too lazy for that. Idk about your other question. Hope you get plenty of snow this year, I'm coming your way Christmas time!

Not sure I want to reinforce the plastic piece, just have to door pop out so the handle isn't taking all the forces.

I found a door handle at pick n pull. Both Eclipses had there handle taken already so I pulled one from a 96 Dodge Avenger. So glad most people don't know about the Chrysler Sebrings and Dodge Avengers from the last 90's.
