I have a 1.8 Hyundai head on my 6 bolt, it was on there when I bought the car (1G) I am wondering how much this head is hurting performance and is it worth it to swap back to a 2.0 head. This head does increase compression slightly, but at the cost of possibly lower flow. Otherwise the same as a 2.0 head. Thanks.

I've seen no real discernible differences besides combustion chamber volumes when compared to my 'NOS' 1g cylinder head. I too, am running a Hyundai g4cn head on my high compression motor. I've "heard" the Hyundai heads dont have as much reinforcement in the coolant passages, but I've had no issues with flexing or gasket related issues.

We have run them on two different cars. And still have one on our mirage. They make big boy power. Plain and simple. And we have never had head gasket issues. With any car really.

Yes it is the shrouding I was worried about and how bad the compression will affect knock. It runs fine so far, thanks.

The compression increase is minimal 43 vs 47cc. Remember CR = (Swept vol + clearance vol) / clearance vol 7.81 = (500+x)/x = clearance vol= 73cc for a 1g. So drop 4cc and calc the new CR 500+69/69 = 8.24:1

They are not 6T valves in the Hyundai head, But the 6T valves are a drop in fit.

A set of factory 6T or stainless. But Yes I would suggest you do.
