Well to give you an idea here is a cock pit view of one of my runs look at the boost gauge closely this is with me tacking the car out 9000rpm no boost drop.Any of you 5 speed high hp fwds have any issues losing boost between gears? I use nlts and every gear is fine except my 2/3 shift. It falls flat on its face. Think it's maybe in the tune or maybe dragging 2nd out too far or not far enough? I'm at a loss here.
Fp black made 606hp and 550 torque. I'm shifting at 7200 but spinning pretty bad in 1st and 2nd. 3rd grabs and loses boost. I tried riding 2nd out a little further. I'm gonna try setting up my boost by gear. Probably wastegate for both which is 22 lbs or so.With the fwd trans only gear you should have an issue with is 1st to 2nd. Theres a big gap between those gears. The other gears are matched just right.
What are you shifting at and what turbo setup are you running?
Yeah I am and the shift is solid. I just think I'm not maxing the gear out.Are you logging your tps to see if your really keeping your foot down?
Hmmm I'm gonna have to mess with it some more. I've gotta just be shifting too early. My nlts is set at 5500 with a 7200 limiter and ive been trying my launch on the 2 step @ 4500 on qtps. When I get some time I'll mess with it and get a video.Well to give you an idea here is a cock pit view of one of my runs look at the boost gauge closely this is with me tacking the car out 9000rpm no boost drop. You must be logged in to view this image or video.
Bro I launch my car harder than that. My setup is 5250 for 2step, 6000 for nlts and rev limit I think was stock or alittle hire. You want the nlts to be close to where rpm's drop when you shift. So if your shifting fast it shouldn't drop to much. I would raise the nlts limit Closer to your rev limit, like 6000-6500 maybe to start. What gear do you do your durn out in? Do a good 2nd gear burn out and hold your self as long as you can with the ebrake, maybe launch alittle higher rpm. Then I would try boost by gear and launch with alittle less boost and let it build up for the next 2 gears. Helps a lot to get traction out the whole, a good 60' usually makes for a good run.
I have a 2.3 stroker. In my dyno chart my power started falling off between 6500 and 7000.Sounds like a very low rpm to be shifting that size turbo. I would think it would fall out of boost a bit at that point. I haven't seen your dyno chart, but I know that turbo can carry power on up toward 8k rpm, or more. Not sure if you have a reason for not revving it out a bit more, but that's what I would do to keep the rpm higher on the shift!
Are you using the upper or lower switch on the clutch pedal? I prefer the lower switch since it keeps the power on a little longer and brings the power back in a little quicker. I typically see .3 second shifts.Got a chance to check out the logs. My 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are around .7 to .8 sec. Im guessing a little slow. I timed them based off of the clutch switch. Boost was dropping from high 20s to 10 between shifts. 3rd to 4th 37psi to 18 or so. Nlts set at 5k. Once i figure the dragging clutch out im sure ill be able to turn it up for some better runs.
never thought about that. Im using the upper. I was thinking it would help with changing the limiter during shifts since it would engage faster. Makes since though. Ill try that too. I ordered an extended slave rod to see if thatll bandaid fix it. I bought an auto awd so im trying not to spend too much more on the fwd. Eventually going to switch everything over. Are you using the upper or lower switch on the clutch pedal? Yeah im for sure 100% throttle i just gotta fix the dragging clutch. On the 2 step at 5k i could feel it dragging and trying to roll through the brakes. Im sure i can cut another .6 or more off the 1/8 with it fixed. If the extended slave doesnt bandaid it ill pull it and send it back to tim. See if he can fix it or if i gotta buy another. My 3rd to 4th was like .5 seconds which isnt bad. Its the other shifts that are killing me. Which switch do you use for nlts? Are you logging tps? And are you keeping your foot all the way down 100% throttle during all your shifts? That can also make your shifts drop boost more and take longer.
i was running like 11psi. At about 11psi i could see the tires start to wrinkle sitting still. Ill get to another track prepped soon. Gonna try turning my nlts up some more too, was set at 5500.Dang bro those 60' are killing you. Some mad mph though . Def mid 12's and then 11's when you get more seat time and a good track to roll down. I think I run 10-12psi in my qtp's. Been a while since I've had them out.
