Is it feasable to replace rings with out machining anything? I have either a valve or ring issue and havent determined which yet and looking at options.

Basically car idles fine... it drives fine... if i let it idle in the driveway for 10 or so minutes i blow oil smoke until it clears out of the chamber and then no smoke anymore even at boost.

Its fine now because i can turn the key and go. But come winter its going to be quite a cloud after warming up in the driveway.

Sounds to me it's valve stem seals. Worn rings will smoke all the time.
I agree with you... Just have everyone throwing rings out as a possibility too..

I know when my rings were bad on the honda it would blow smoke bad at high rpms.. This motor sees 6500 with no smoke. Only after a long idle like oil dripped into the cylinder.

You would need to at least hone the cylinder.
Of course.. we do in bay motor rebuilds on hondas like that all the time but they usually only have 1 track season or 2 on them and not 150k. Wasnt sure since these blocks seem so picky with what goes in them.

I doubt rings also.

Sounds like typical worn valve stem seals

I agree with everyone else you don't need rings gonna worn valve guides or valve guide seals. Way easier job then replacing the rings and just my 2c if your engine has 150k on it the cylinders will need more then "honing" because the rings slowly wear into the cylinders creating a slight lip at the TDC position. So with new rings on I have personally seen them catch that lip over and over and eventually get damaged, then they start to gouge into the cylinder.
