Ive been thinking about getting a mechanical oil pressure gauge from oreillys but idk if theyre any good. Ive tried searching for reviews on them but I cant find really find anything. What are yalls opinions on them?? Have you ever ran one if so for how long, how accurate it was, an did you ever have any problems with it (stickingbin one spot, leaking, etc). I just need to if its worth the 25$ or should i just order an autometer online?? I just dont feel like waiting for it to come through the mail because my car is down until i get a gauge:notgood:. Anyways any opinions or advice would greatly be appreciated.

O'Reilly Auto Parts is a retailer, not a manufacture.

So the same brand you buy in the store is the same one you get from Ebay or Amazon.

With a mechanical gauge, you get nylon tube, thats trash, so toss it and get some 1/8 inch copper tubing, it will use all the same parts the nylon tube does.

Other than that, I never had issues with a parts store oil gauge over years and years of use.

So the gauge is good just the nylon tube that comes with it is not?? Could you possibly verify that statement(as in why its trash??)

Yes gauge is fine.

Tube is trash.. Why? add heat, a petroleum distillate and vibration and it cracks and leaks over time.

How do I know, Many years ago, I about fried an engine due to the tube snapping off at the adapter at the engine, it pumped most all the oil out.

Oh well that would make sence :ohdamn:thank you so much!! Im defiantly not gonna risk it since i only have 25 miles on my engine so im just gonna replace it with some copper tubing. Do you know about how many feet/meters i would need?? I dont want to get to much an have it bend it to make it fit an take a chance on breaking it.

Make a good guess on how many feet you need, I tend to buy it by the foot from my local NAPA, But the parts store will it in a coil in a AutoMeter band, should be on yellow cardboard.

Just cut it to length with a $5 tubing cutter.

Not a hack saw, not a cut off wheel not a dremel

Tubing cutter only, most anything else will flare the edge and the ferrule will not slip on and seal properly.

I actually work at O'Reilly. The iEquus gauges are kind of... meh. They're cheap, and I mean that in all kinds of ways. We can actually get any AutoMeter gauge you want, and they're pretty good. Tell the guy behind the counter you want to see the AutoMeter catalog. That's the good stuff.

The iEquus gauges will tell you a pressure, and the tubes will connect, but they're not terribly accurate in my experience. Every store should stock copper tubing to replace the nylon stuff. Of course, it depends on where you're at whether or not you'll find very helpful employees.
