Hello,

I have searched the forums for a how to write up on how to wire up my BlackBox to allow me to use the MapSwitching feature and can't find anything. To my knowledge I have to use pin #44 on the ECU but what do I do to it? Simply add a pin & ground it to the body to use the other map in the BlackBox ECU? How do I switch maps once able to? Use a toggle switch to ground the pin & turn the car off?

I'm looking to get my car tuned on e85 & pump gas so I'd like to be able to switch maps once tuned to switch between e85 & pump gas.

Custom EPROM. In this case it's a Keydiver chip replacing the factory software.

None of this has anything to do with the question posed in this thread.
Different ECU architecture between the 95 and black box DSM ECUs.

The base issue is that the stock code for the H8 doesn't support map switching. It has multiple maps but they are used for the different type of cars the ECU is used in and not for using different fuels. The CEDDYMODs ROM has map switching via pin 44 as input from what I can tell but there isn't any product support anymore which makes it difficult to use.

Steve,

Thanks again for your help. I understand that my BlackBox ECU would have to be custom coded to support MapSwitching unless using CeddyMods, which doesn't have support any longer. Can't a DSM BlackBox ECU be tuned with EvoScan in combination with CeddyMods or are they two completely different tuning platforms?

I'm not a tuner so this is new to me. I really appreciate your help with this because I'm just trying to see how difficult it will be to run E85 & pump gas in my car using a BlackBox ECU. I may just throw in a pump gas tune on the BlackBox for now then switch to Link down the road to make easier use of two tunes. I didn't plan to be constantly changing my tunes or setup so Link wasn't needed for me since from what I've been reading BlackBox can do the things I'd like to do with no issues and save me from spending $500-$600+ for DSMLink & then paying a tuner to tune my car with Link. If MapSwitching with BlackBox is too difficult of a task, I'll just go the Link route once I have my coins right to make that transition to Link from BlackBox.

A local tuner told me he didn't think it was possible to do on BlackBox. I just want to have my car setup to switch maps once I'm getting tuned so a tuner can tune both maps by switching to each map by a toggle switch.

It seems the easiest way I'll be able to run E85 & pump gas maps on BlackBox is by having 2 tuned BlackBox ECUs to swap out between swapping fuels or having a laptop & Tactrix cable with me at all times to flash for a pump gas & E85 map. I think the flashing method makes more sense. Just would need to carry a laptop & cable if I'm traveling out of town without E85 pumps near me. In town I'll probably just flash and go with a E85 tune since it's a E85 pump here locally now until I invest in Link.

MasterP I think to do it with a Blackbox you need one from an automatic car. Im not 100% sure on this. But just from using ceddymods, ive seen that it has the map sets to choose from. So the auto has different map set for reverse, park/neutral/drive.... so just thinking about it, I think you wire a switch up to the one of the sensors that goes to the ecu for say reverse or park and tune a e85 fuel map to it, then driving map to your gasoline fuel map.... Might want to research it im sure its on the interwebz somewhere. maybe some1 who knows 100% will chime in.

I don't think it matters as long as you use a ROM that has all the maps. The physical ECU isn't going to be any different as far as I'm aware. You'll need to use CeddyMods to be able to switch between them as others have said. Ceddymods is just a set of ROMS with custom code hacked into them. You use evoscan to log and ecuFlash to flash etiher the stock roms or one of the Roms with CeddyMods installed onto your ecu.

Let me know if you figure it all out, I'm getting started with Ceddymods myself and will be switching to e85 after I sort out some issues with my car.
