Anyone have a idea how to help me here? I am installing new molded carpet in my 2g Eclipse GSX. The carpet is molded for this car, so it should fit fine (according to manufacturer). But I am running into an odd fitment issue... If you look in this picture you can see where the middle of the back seats dip down. And you can see where the back of the arm rest almost meets the back seats. The carpet there is just a little raised there, to accommodate the rear drive axle hump. Everything in the carpet in the car fits fine - except for this spot. The carpet 'hump' is too tall, and it rises almost as high as the back seats...

Any ideas on how to deal with this or cut this?

Yup, good idea!

So I spent all last night fussing with it and I got it to fit as well as it can. The carpet looks 95% fitted (just a few tiny loose spots)

What it took was making sure the padding was aligned right, and then cutting the center console area around the parking brake and a square cut at the back of the arm rest. Not it fits fine.

I just need to do a little trimming under the pedals and kickboards and the car will look like new!
