So I was attempting to install my hks catback today on my 97 gsx and came into a problem. The hks has threads on the exhaust where a hanger would go. The exhaust I removed wasn't the oem exhaust so all the hangers were welded onto the piping. I've looked around on jnz and a few other sites to see if the oem exhaust has hangers that bolt onto the exhaust and couldn't find it anywhere.
Anybody have this issue. Trying to avoid bringing it to a muffler shop to weld hangers on
I'll try to take pics to make it more clear

Thanks
Brian

You just use bolts with washers and a nut to attach the exhaust to the rubber hangers. SS fasteners from a local hardware store will work fine. they just need to be long enough to go through the hanger and exhaust mounting flanges.

I do not know the size. However, being that you have an HKS, I would surmise that it is metric. Likely an M8 if I had to guess. Thread pitch may be 1.5 or 1.25. You could always take part of the exhaust with you to the hardware store.

Cool I think I might just do that. Thank you very much for the info. I really appreciate it.

Report back with what you find it out to be for the next member looking for the info.

Went to the hardware store and picked up some stainless m8 bolts that were about 2-1/4" long
Haven't finished the job because I need to get a pipe welded but this should do the trick.
