Got a dyno sheet? I'm interested to see how quick power falls off in the upper rpms vs how quick it comes on.

Is this the 8cm housing or the 7cm housing?
Dote..... I see it's an 8cm.
I just bought one. I am hoping i like it. My car runs pretty good now. I have never dyoned the car. So hopefully it goes faster.
But i got to get bigger injectors and a new tune. I already have a methanol set up and cams ect.
I plan on maxing the turbo out. I am running the 264/272 setup. I might need to add the other 272 cam to take advantage of the turbo.
I'm right there with you guys . I'll be using the current setup on my gvr4 just adding the 68hta, and possible the meth kit I've been sitting on (thx again Paul). Should be a really fun setup for it.
Sounds about right, glad to hear your builds coming together.
Have the graph?
holy crap is that thing laggy. Here is the graph.
I've been running this turbo since late last year and hadn't seen much reviews on it since they changed over from the TD05H turbine wheel and the 8cm housing. I also get 20psi about 4100 rpm's on BC272 cams. I was expecting a little faster spool maybe like 3500-3800. However, once I turn this beast up to 30psi it's a whole different animal. I'm also running E85. I switched over from a small 16 on E85 as well and while 16g spooled fast I could feel it slow down up top. The 68hta just wants to keep going. I'm on a stock motor except for the evo3 intake and ported exhaust components so I probably won't push it any further than that. I've been contemplating on switching to some 264/264 or maybe 264/272 cam combo and see how that helps the spool on the turbo.
Anyways, sorry for the book but thought I would throw in some additional info for people who are thinking about getting it.
Ya it seems that the combination of the turbine wheel & 8 cm housing is most likely the culprit. I knew the 6sl2 sized turbine was going to create slightly more lag, but damn is that a lot. Honestly its about 400 RPM slower than my FP2, SMIM, 68 HTA TD05H build. Not much faster than the FP Green realistically. Thanks for the input. I'll be turning it up once I'm done breaking the engine in. I've also noticed in my graph that the TQ just goes completely flat after 4500rpm...anyone have any input on that? I actually haven't driven the car yet. I will be in Washington picking it up Friday

There are dozen's of HTA68 threads with members posting, "I hit full boost @ 3.8k!" That's great, is their full boost 12psi or 20psi? If it's 12psi then your HTA68 IS hitting full boost at 3.8k, if it's 20psi then it's 4.4k and you've been mislead... The most important thing to remember is, what you're sacrificing it spool-up (200-300rpm) you're gaining in efficiency at the top of your power band. Giving you that nice flat torque curve (which is a good thing) and once you start turning the boost up more, increased airflow over the smaller HTA68 variant.
The revised HTA68 has the larger TD06SL2 turbine with an 8cm housing, which will spool slower than the original HTA68 but flow more up top than a DSM running the smaller TD05H turbine and 7cm housing in their HTA68. The larger turbine wheel decreases back pressure along with running pump gas (even less back pressure than E85 creates) spool times will be slower.
You can always play with cam gear timing (using adj. cam gears) to get some spool time back. If you plan on autox'ing then the quicker you build full boost (in your case 20psi) the better but if you're drag racing, you'll never be below 5k even launching so spool time doesn't make a difference.
Gofer is the man, and has an impressive build. I will admit I do think his also does spool quite slow but he makes impressive power. I hit 20 PSI @ 3700 with FP2s, JMF Street SMIM, DNP manifold, Q45 TB, 28x12.5x3.5 bar and plate intercooler, etc. However with all that being said I had the 7cm housing and the TD05H turbine so quite a bit different from urs and even gofer (he has the 8 cm housing on his). In no way was I bashing, I was just surprised how slow it spooled. I do agree with Gofer that the new TD06sl2 sized turbine wheel will have a much flatter power curve and hold power better past 6500 than a single scroll TD05H variant, you just have to give up a little spool for it (more than I thought).Awesome man, thanks for your comment. For a second there I was starting to kinda feel disappointed but your input definitely helped! I've read around the forums a lot but never seen much feedback about the new version so I wasn't sure what I should be expecting. This is my first real build and happy to hear that I'm where I should be with this turbo at this point. Definitely excited about turning this thing up and see what happens! Appreciate the boost of confidence! I'll post the log when I turn it up for others to see!
